Sevilla v Barcelona – 23rd January Wednesday

SEVILLA V BARCELONA – RAMON SANCHEZ-PIZJUAN STADIUM AT 20:30 (UTC/GMT)

FC Barcelona are bragging excellent form in Spanish La Liga, being unbeaten in their last eight games.

Last Sunday, they beat Leganes 3-1, and prior to that they also defeated Eibar 3-0. Earlier this month they also scored a 1-2 win over Getafe.

Furthermore, Barcelona did not let their opponents score a single win in their games throughout December. Barca made a 2-0 win over Celta de Vigo, as well as a 0-5 thrashing to Levante. They also hammered Espanyol 0-4. Earlier in the previous month, they also had a 2-0 victory over Villareal.

Barca’s last draw and loss happened on November in the previous year.

In their Copa del Rey campaign, Barcelona only have one defeat out of their four games so far. The loss was a 2-1 fall to Levante last week.

Barca will be visiting Seville on Wednesday hoping to preserve a relatively good form in the Copa.

Sevilla lost twice this month so far in La Liga: one was a 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid last Saturday, and one a 2-0 loss as well to Athletic Bilbao.

Prior to those defeats though, Sevilla has been enjoying a nine-match unbeaten run, including a 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid earlier this month.

MATCH PREDICTION

Sevilla 1-1 Barcelona

Valverde’s plan to put Messi to rest will make a huge impact on Barcelona’s match with Sevilla on Wednesday. Messi played half an hour last Sunday in Barca’s game with Leganes, scoring all three points. With this, one could draw a picture of how Barca will perform and score a goal on Wednesday. Sevilla was left goalless in their last two matches in La Liga, but Los Hispalenses are able to hold Atletico Madrid into a 1-1 draw earlier this month.
