Scotland v Germany Asian Handicap Betting Preview – Monday 7th September by @DarkDyson

Scotland v Germany – Hampden Park at 19:45 live on Sky Sports 1

Just four days ago everything was looking so positive for Gordon Strachan and his Scotland team, who were in a great position to challenge Poland and Germany for an automatic qualifying place from Group D.

Now, having lost 1-0 in Georgia last time out, they face the daunting task of needing to beat World Champions Germany at Hampden Park to keep alive their slim qualification hopes.

With both Poland and the Republic of Ireland playing tonight at home against Gibraltar and Georgia respectively, even a hugely unlikely victory over the Germans probably won’t be enough for them to reclaim third spot for the time being.

What chance do Scotland realistically have of upsetting the Germans?

Not much chance at all if Friday’s performance against Georgia is anything to go by, the Scot’s were unable to register a single shot on target in their woeful 1-0 defeat in Tbilisi.

Although, their recent record at home is an impressive looking P6 W5 D0 L1, we really can’t put much stock in those results, because the strongest team they played during that run was England and they were easily beaten 3-1 in that match, by Roy Hodgson’s men.

The Germans started their qualifying campaign for Euro 2016 very slowly, with just four points picked up from the opening three games, including a draw at home against the Republic of Ireland.

But, easy victories over Gibraltar (twice) and Georgia seemed to galvanise Joachim Low’s squad and an impressive 3-1 win against closest rivals Poland on Friday night, has re-established Germany’s superiority in Group D.

Despite recent results, the Germans are unlikely to underestimate Scotland tonight and Low will want to make sure that his team wrap up automatic qualification as soon as possible.

Looking at the betting markets, it is no surprise to see the visitors priced up as short odds on favourites at 1.42 to win the match. In terms of the Asian handicap betting line, most firms are going +/-1.25 here and I have to admit it is hard to see the Scot’s containing this on form German side.

I usually prefer to find angles in which to take on the favourites but getting 1.99 on the World Champions to win by two goals against this blunt Scotland side is too good to miss.

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Germany -1.25 at 1.99

Prices correct at the time of writing
