Zenit St. Petersburg v Sevilla – Petrovsky Stadium at 20:05

We had a half win in the first leg of this tie last week but can we land the Asian handicap betting winner, in the return leg this week?

Zenit host Sevilla in St. Petersburg this evening having scored a precious away goal in Spain last week. However, they will be kicking themselves for conceding a late winner to Sevilla that leaves them needing to come out and score tonight if they want to progress.

Andrew Villas-Boas has resurrected his managerial career at Zenit, after his ultimately unsuccessful few years in the English Premier League. His team currently sit at the top of the Russian Premier League with and eight point gap over their closest rivals, they will be able to focus all their efforts on rescuing their Europa League dreams.

Despite being knocked out of the Champions League at the group stage Zenitchiki (The Anti-Aircraft Gunners) had cruised into the Europa League Quarter-Finals without conceding a single goal, until their 2-1 defeat in Seville last week. Unfortunately their recent form is also a concern with no win in three and just five wins from their last ten in all competitions.

The visitors on the other hand are in great form at the moment with no loss in 12, across all competitions and that includes playing both Atletico Madrid and Barcelona in recent La Liga matches. They have now also won six in row in this competition and will be confident of completing the job against Zenit tonight.

But Villas-Boas has moulded his squad into an efficient unit with Danny and Oleg Shatov providing openings for Hulk and Salomon Rondon. They are missing Ezequiel Garay through suspension but are otherwise at full strength, as are Unai Emery’s Sevilla team who just have a slight doubt over Daniel Carrico’s fitness.

Sevilla were slow to get going last week but having grabbed the first leg lead they have the tactical advantage and should be able to close out the tie tonight. There could also be more than couple of goals with Zenit needing to come out and attack to have any chance of qualifying.

Zenit have not been the most prolific team in the competition but as mentioned they have to attack tonight and all four of Sevilla’s previous Europa League games finished with at least three goals. The Andalusians average 1.63 goals per game on the road in La Liga, which is significantly more than the 1.08 league average. Over 2.75 Goals can be backed at 2.10 and should be at least a half win based on the stats and form.

The main Asian handicap betting line is set at 0.25 and with a tempting price on the away side it makes sense to go with the favourites this evening, follow the smart money on the Spaniards to progress to the Semi-Finals.

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Sevilla +0.25 at 1.87
