West Ham v Liverpool – London Stadium at 17:30

With few games of excitement set to take place in the Premier League on Saturday, many fans will look to the 5:30 pm kick-off to provide a bit of excitement before Sunday’s mega showdown.

Liverpool back on form

Jurgen Klopp will be pleased that his Liverpool side seems to have bounced back to form after the humbling defeat at Spurs. The embarrassing 4-1 defeat was followed up with a 3-0 win over Huddersfield, before another 3-0 win last night against Maribor in the Champions League Group Stages.

The German made changes for the continental clash, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain getting his first start for the Reds. Whilst the Arsenal man did well, he was out-shadowed by his opposite wideman Mohamed Salah, who has really hit the group running on his return to English football.

Salah grabbed another goal against Maribor, making it 10 already this season. Since Luis Suarez left the club, Liverpool’s top scorer has been Philippe Coutinho, who grabbed 14 last year. Salah is just four off that tally with a huge chunk of the season still to play.

Bilic’s woes continue

How Slaven Bilic would love to have Mo Salah in his side. Major summer signing Javier Hernandez has grabbed four goals in the Premier League so far, but he is one of only a few players firing for Bilic’s side.

Bilic will be pleased then to have Hernandez available on Saturday evening, with 5 senior players missing at the London Stadium. Among those is Pablo Zabaleta, who Bilic will be relying on to use his experience to help the Hammers out of their slump.

Last weekend, the Croat’s side collapsed to Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace side despite having a two-goal lead. It led to Joe Hart, on loan from Manchester City, to question his side’s professionalism and concentration.

It’ll be a big ask to beat Liverpool, but West Ham proved they can beat the big boys with an impressive EFL Cup win against Spurs a fortnight ago. Bilic will need another big win to boost confidence around the club.
