Wales v Israel – Cardiff City Stadium at 17:00 live on Sky Sports 1
Wales are almost there! A late Gareth Bale winner in Cyprus the other night took Wales one step away from qualification. On Sunday Chris Coleman’s side have a chance to make history as they aim to get over the line against Israel.
The focus will always be on Gareth Bale. The Welsh wizard has had a hand in eight of the nine goals Wales have scored in qualifying and he has been the catalyst in their recent rise in the rankings. However, The Welsh back line also deserves a similar level of praise. In their seven qualifying games the back line lead by Ashley Williams has kept five clean sheets. That stability at the back has made it easier for Wales to score goals on the break.
Israel are no mugs, don’t think for one second that this is a nice easy victory parade for Coleman’s boys. They still have a great chance of qualifying for next summer’s tournament and a win against the Welsh would put them in a great position. Israel will be well up for this, make no mistake about that.
I think this game will be similar to the Cyprus match. A tight encounter but with Wales having that one extra bit of quality to get the job done, that extra bit being Gareth Bale! I’m with Wales -0.5 on the Asian handicap betting markets at 1.8. It won’t be easy but I think Sunday will be a day to remember for Wales.
