Veikkausliiga Asian Handicap Preview – Wednesday 19th August

KTP v Inter at 16:30 – Cup hangover in Inter?

Job Dragtsma’s side FC Inter from Turku clinched a cup final spot on Saturday, when they beat KuPS on penalties on home turf. Inter’s second consecutive final spot in the national cup came at high cost though. Both Juuso Hämäläinen and Philip Njoku were sent off, and their suspensions will take place in the league as well.

The Finnish Nerazzurri played with nine men until penalties, that’s quite a job to do. Thus, in addition to the suspensions, which include Petros Kanakoudis, coach Dragtsma will have a tough time to find players with enough energy against KTP.

KTP’s goalkeeper Jere Pyhäranta is eligible after his suspension, but presumably HJK-loanee Saku-Pekka Sahlgren will start against Inter. KTP took a surprising away win against IFK M a week ago with 10-men, as Juuso Salonen was sent off.

Coach Dragtsma has complained about his squad being too thin. After 2 suspensions and 120 minutes of football on Saturday, I can’t see this unstable team claiming an away win. Additionally KTP have scored fewest goals in the league.

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Under 2.5 @ 1.79

KuPS v IFK Mariehamn – Who’s got the best energy after the cup semis?

Both teams played cup semi finals last Saturday, KuPS lost to Inter and IFK M humiliated league leaders HJK 5-1. KuPS had all the keys for advancement, especially since Inter received two red cards. Rajamäki’s side has however, struggled all season long to play a stable 90-minute game. Juha Hakola is still likely to be sidelined, meanwhile Petteri Pennanen is out for the season.

KuPS have player two games less than third spotted SJK, winning both their games would bring Rajamäki’s side on equal points.

IFK bounced back after two awkward losses against bottom teams by beating HJK 5-1. Pekka Lyyski’s team has faced similar problems as the hosts from Kuopio. Most of the trouble lies in sealing the game, as the islanders most often dominate possession but can’t find a way to score. Long-term injured Aleksei Kangaskolkka is the only one sidelined for the guests.

Although all hope seems to be lost in Kuopio after the cup loss, they are strong at home. Meanwhile the visitors are in a horrible form away from home.

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: KUPS 0 (Draw No Bet) @ 1.99
