Vasco da Gama v Oeste Asian Handicap Preview – Saturday 10th September by @LewisJones1992

With just 15 games to go in the Brazilian second division, the race for promotion is really hotting up. Only ten points separate second all the way down to tenth in the table. With a busy weekend of fixtures I’ve picked my favourite Asian Handicap bets in Brazil for Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday we’ll be heading to Rio as we take a look at the fixture between promotion chasing Vasco da Gama and relegation candidates Oeste who will make the long 8 hour coach journey from the state of Sao Paulo.

Two months ago, it seemed Vasco were going to walk the division, regaining their place in the Brazilian top flight. However, with no win in six games, there is a bit of panic surrounding the Rio based giants. A second season in this division would have an adverse effect on the clubs already stretched finances.

Vasco put in a strong performance last weekend against Bahia who are equally strong favourites to regain their Serie A status. Bahia are notoriously difficult to beat at their own ground. Gama eventually lost the game 1-0 but they’ll be please with their performance. They had a goal wrongly chalked off for a foul and hit the woodwork several times. You can see that they’re looking dangerous again for the first time in a few weeks.

Prior to Vasco’s bad run, you’d have expected them to be 1.30 to win the fixture and around -1.50 at 1.90 on the Asian Handicap line. Due to their dreadful run of form, they’re now 1.53 to win the fixture and an industry best price of 1.98, -1 on the Asian Handicap line with Eastbridge sports betting brokerage.

Oeste started the season brightly but have finally hit a slump, slowly slipping down the table. Relegation was expected so anything other than that would be considered a great success.

The minnows are reportedly on the verge of selling their home stadium in order to stump up the cash needed to pay off their debts. Should this happen they’ll likely play their fixtures at Santos’ Vila Belmiro.

With Oeste just three points outside the relegation zone and one of the poorest squads in the league, I’m not to concerned about Vasco’s recent form. I’m happy to back them to cover their Asian Handicap line!

Asian Handicap Recommendation: Vasco -1 at 1.98
