Utah Jazz at Indiana Pacers Handicap Betting Preview – Saturday 31st October by @ChrisOgle2

Utah Jazz at Indiana Pacers – Bankers Life Fieldhouse at 23:10

Saturday night 11.10pm UK time sees the surprisingly poor Indiana Pacers (0-2) host the Utah Jazz (1-1).

The Pacers have had trouble stopping teams late in both games this season giving up winning opportunities in both matches.

Most reports from the Pacers first two match ups focused in on the lack of defence shown late on, but upon closer inspection the bigger issue for those games was a poor conversion of opportunities which kept their opponents in the game.

There is without doubt a mountain of ability in the Pacers roster, including Monta Ellis who lit up the preseason, but shot for a woeful 27% from the field on Wednesday night.

6th year Pacer Paul George was quoted in midweek as saying “The lineups haven’t been consistent so we’re still trying to work through things. It’s an adjustment, it’s a process.”

Which is fine taking a long term view over a season, but right now the Pacers don’t know who their starting 5 is and aren’t connecting as a unit. Yet.

The Jazz got their season off and running with a win on Friday night in Philly and face the 2nd road trip in two days.

Utah are essentially a no frills, no hype unit, but they are well drilled and tough to break down. Jazz head coach Quin Snyder has worked hard to build on a team that looks largely the same to last year, and although have less quality than Indiana, they have something the Pacers don’t. A well set, well organised team.

Odds compilers are particularly sensitive to teams facing a 2nd road trip in two days and historically will allocate a 2-3 point bias due to the fatigue factor.

However, this trend is overplayed especially in the first 12 games of the season as nearly all rosters are fresh and teams on the road playing back to back fixtures during the first 12 games of the season are an incredible 59% against the spread over a mammoth sample of 300 games.

In laymans terms, you can back teams fitting this specific criteria blind and walk away with a profit. Tonight, the Jazz are that team.

With both the stats trend and the early season cohesion issues for the Pacers, the Jazz (+3) is a no brainier here.

Handicap Betting Recommendation: Jazz (+3) to beat the Pacers at 1.95
