Southampton v Everton Asian Handicap Preview – Sunday 26th November

Southampton v Everton – St. Mary’s Stadium at 13:30

Football fans up and down the country may be slightly disappointed by the lack of big games on Sunday, but this clash between two struggling sides could lead to interesting viewing.

More woe for Everton

The midweek Europa League fixture between Everton and Atalanta saw further misery for the Merseyside club. The traveling Italians managed to score 5 goals at Goodison Park, taking 3 points back to home.

The result meant that the Toffees have gone the Europa League group stage without a win, picking up just the one point.

To rub the salt in the wounds, Atalanta has spent £2million less in the last 10 years than Everton did this summer. Furthermore, two of Atalanta’s goals were scored by Premier League flop Andreas Cornelius – Cardiff fans must be wondering where that form was when they needed it.

When will Everton hire a new manager?

It’s been 31 days since Everton sacked Ronald Koeman and Everton seem no closer to appointing a new manager. David Unsworth continues as caretaker manager, but the club is truly in disarray.

Getting a new manager is imperative for the club’s chances to stay up this season. They currently sit in 16th with 12 points from 12 games. Two out of the four teams below them have all appointed new managers already this season, with West Brom likely to join them after sacking Tony Pulis.

Why haven’t Everton hired a new manager yet? God only knows, but they need to pull their finger out to have any chance of saving their season.

Southampton’s goalscoring worries continue

One team who will be glad to be facing Everton this weekend is Mauricio Pellegrino, who is under fire at the Saints. His side has massively struggled for goals this season, but if Atalanta can put 5 past a hapless Everton, surely even goal-shy Southampton can do so too.

The Saints have scored just 9 goals in the league this season and boss Pellegrino will be hoping for a change in fortunes on Sunday.
