WGC – HSBC Champions – Sheshan International Golf Club live on Sky Sports 4
This week the world’s best players gather for the fourth and final World Golf Championship event of the year, the HSBC Champions. Since the tournaments inception on the golfing calendar in 2005, it has been held in China, and in 2009 the HSBC Champions was named as a WGC event. Despite this, it is still part of the European Tour’s final series, and FedEx Cup points are also on offer for those playing on the PGA Tour. Last year, Bubba Watson lifted the trophy after beating Tim Clark in a playoff and looking at past results, the cream tends to rise to the top, Dustin Johnson, Martin Kaymer and Phil Mickleson have all won this event since 2009.
Sheshan International Golf Club has hosted the HSBC Champions from 2005 to present, with the exception of 2012 when Mission Hills Golf Club played host. The course is a par 72 that measures 7,261 yards, the fairways are tree-lined and water comes into play on eleven holes. The previous winners of this event are all excellent players from tee to green and driving distance appears to be advantageous. Sheshan International consists of ten par 4’s and four par 3’s and par 5’s, and par 5 scoring has proved to be crucial in recent renewals of this tournament. Last year, Bubba Watson played the par 5’s in an incredible 14 under par, he played the other 56 holes in 3 over par, which indicates how important par 5 scoring is this week.
Patrick Reed – Four time PGA Tour winner, Patrick Reed is an outstanding price at 40/1 in my opinion. The American finished 3й in the Hong Kong Open just a couple of weeks ago and he tied for 10го in the CIMB Classic last week. The American is priced so generously because of a poor finish to the PGA Tour’s 2014/15 season, when he was struggling with accuracy off the tee. In the CIMB Classic, Reed ranked 7го in driving accuracy which indicates it’s something he’s worked on and hopefully resolved ahead of this event. Reed also hit 83.33% of greens in regulation last week, only five players hit more, therefore we can assume his games in pretty good shape. Last year, Patrick tied for 22й around Sheshan International and I’ve mentioned above that par 5 performance is crucial around this venue and Reed ranked 7го out of 184 players on the PGA Tour last season in this statistic.
2 очка в каждую сторону @ 40/1
Louis Oosthuizen – Louis Oosthuizen has struggled with injuries over the past couple of seasons, but his performances this year suggest that he’s shrugged those off and is primed for a victory. The world number 13 has recorded six top 10 finishes so far this year. Two of those have come in WGC events and two others were 2й place finishes in the US Open and the Open Championship. Admittedly, Oosthuizen hasn’t played competitive golf since the Presidents Cup which is a slight disadvantage but I’m convinced he’s a value play at 50/1. The South African has an excellent record around Sheshan International, in his eight starts in this event, Louis Oosthuizen has recorded an impressive six top 20 finishes, and therefore it’s evidently a venue that he likes.
1,75 пункта в каждую сторону @ 50/1
Marc Leishman – Last week, Marc Leishman tied for 29го position in the CIMB Classic and those players who played last week should benefit after a few weeks out of action. I expect Leishman’s all-round game to be sharper and the Aussie is well worth chancing at 150/1. He’s often underrated and tends to up his game in the big events, he notably finished 2й in the Open Championship earlier this year and has recorded a number of top 10’s in other Major Championships and WGC events. In the HSBC Champions last year, Leishman tied for 9го position, he plays the par 5’s well, and this is a golf course that Marc can go well around and hopefully make 150/1 look a very silly price.
