West Ham v Arsenal – Upton Park at 12:45 live on BT Sport 1
Sixth host third in the Premier League this lunchtime as West Ham welcome Arsenal to Upton Park for the final time before they move into their new stadium.
It’s been a fantastic last season at the Boleyn Ground for the Hammers, and the first in charge for Slaven Bilic, as they remain in the hunt for a top four finish. Currently sitting in 6th place, 2 points behind United in 5th and 3 behind City in 4th, they are an outside bet at 15.0 to claim a UCL qualifying spot, but it’s not out of the question considering their recent form.
Three consecutive draws have seen them lose a little ground but they are now unbeaten in 15 matches in all competitions. In that run they have beaten 2nd placed Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool, as well as drawing with Man City, a game which they should have also won.
The Irons have also already beaten Arsenal once this season, at the Emirates 2-0 all the way back in August, which many thought was a fluke result. They have shown time and time again this campaign though that they are a quality side and shouldn’t be underestimated.
It’s been a disappointing season so far for their opponents, with Arsenal currently sitting in third, 11 points adrift of Leicester in top spot, although they do have a game in hand. They have faltered when it’s really mattered on a few occasions this term and don’t have the reputation for ‘bottlers’ for nothing.
A top four place looks fairly secure, but if they are to stand any chance, no matter how slim, they really need to win each of their last 7 games.
Back to back wins against Everton and Watford will have boosted confidence, and you could argue they are now playing better since the title has looked out of reach, with the pressure off. Those two wins could give the Gunners false hope though and against one of this seasons toughest sides to beat, West Ham losing just 6 times, they could drop points this Saturday.
I think this should be a really entertaining match between two sides with something to play for going into the home stretch of the season. I’m expecting goals and whoever goes behind will be forced to press and chase the game which could really open it up.
There is some value in backing Over 2.5 goals, even at 1.80, but for my recommendation I’m siding with West Ham on the Asian Handicap betting market once again.
Readers of my articles will know I have backed the Hammers on the AH market many times this year with a lot of success and I feel they have been underestimated once again this weekend, priced at 4.02 to win.
They are unbeaten at home in their last 13 league games making them great value +0.5 at 1.97. I also wouldn’t put people off backing them +0.25 (2.29) and +/- 0 (2.95) either.
Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: West Ham +0.5 at 1.97
