HJK v Inter – Return of the Mac vol. II – Thursday 16:30
Club icon Mac Kandji was supposed to make his comeback against Lahti about a month ago, but an unfortunate injury in training kept the striker sidelined until now. Kandji is not the only one to return from an injury, as Demba Savage, Rasmus Schüller and captain Sebastian Sorsa make a return.
Since Mika Ojala left for 3. Bundesliga and Vahid Hambo for Brighton, goal scoring has been a hot topic for Inter Turku. Strangely enough, they have in fact scored most goals in the league after SJK. Perhaps the focus on completely the wrong end of the field has kept Dragtsma’s boys outside of the top 3?
The visiting team has had ups and downs all season long, sailing from crushing victories to embarrassing losses. A few years back, before Ojala left for the first time and Timo Furuholm formed the league’s most dangerous duo with him, Inter really teased HJK, home and away.
The times they are-a-changin’. Inter might’ve beat HJK easily at home, but league leaders on home turf and with major relief on the injury list guarantees a home win.
Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: HJK -0.75 @ 1.70
FC Lahti v KTP – Can KTP cope with a weaker D? – Thursday 16:30
HJK-loanee Saku-Pekka Sahlgren made a name for himself again in Kotka, saving the team vital points for league survival. HJK’s new signing Thomas Dähne made a cringy debut in a 5-1 loss to IFK Mariehamn, which forced CEO Aki Riihilahti to call Sahlgren back. Jere Pyhäranta is not the worst goalkeeper, but hasn’t performed similar game-savers as “Candylove” Sahlgren.
The Finland U-21 squad had a successful international break, as they beat both Russia and the Faroe Islands. Unfortunate to several league sides, the latter game was played on Tuesday. KTP-defenders Felipe Aspegren and Joel Mero played 90 minutes, and are highly unlikely to start today.
Home team FC Lahti has a solid defense, conceding the least after SJK. A statistical slip occurred in Vaasa in a 3-1 loss, two of the goals being conceded after Xhevdet Gela’s red card.
An extremely solid defense with an extremely unreliable offense against a weakened bottom team gives all the signs for a dry match.
Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Under 2.5 @ 1.66
VPS v Ilves – Vuorinen’s last chance? – Thursday 16:30
Flop of the season, VPS, have tried all the tricks to reach salvation. First coach Huttunen was sacked (albeit way too late), secondly new head coach Vuorinen has tried refreshing the squad with new signings. Jamaican internationals Andre Clennon and Hughan Gray are the newest names, but took part in Jamaica’s world cup qualifiers during the weekend. Highly unlikely that either of them has recovered from jet lag.
July’s and August’s top team Ilves from Tampere are waltzing in harmony. Keith Armstrong was named coach of the month and several players were in the team of the month. Armstrong has found a way to optimize his semi-professional team to play traditional British football, not to surprising from a Newcastle lad.
U-21 national Pyry Soiri played full minutes on Tuesday against the Faroe Islands. The offensive magician will be missed and VPS will face a hard time scoring. Ilves on the other hand seems to be allergic to scoring more than once.
Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Under 2.5 @ 1.72
