Veikkausliiga Asian Handicap Preview – Sunday 4th October

KTP v HIFK – Can KTP ease the pain? – Sunday 13:00

Bottom team KTP are even with Jaro and only one point behind VPS, but have one more match played. Fortunate to them, their remaining schedule looks most suitable, as they are also going to face VPS and Ilves.

HIFK took a surprising win hosting SJK, who honestly never really threatened Mika Johansson’s goal. Thanks to the win HIFK could take a breathe of ease, as the relegation zone is far away, although still in a mathematical reaching distance.

Coach Jani Honkavaara has managed to motivate his squad to surprising wins by making crazy bets. After the 5-0 win at Lahti, Honkavaara rode home to Helsinki with a bicycle. The 1-0 victory over SJK meant a run home to Northern Helsinki for the coach. Seems to work and wouldn’t surprise me if he has something similar in his mind from Kotka.

KTP’s fullback Nosh A Lody is suspended, whilst Sasha Anttilainen is doubtful, as usual. No new injuries or suspensions for HIFK.

KTP have a good chance to grab a point and put some pressure on VPS. Their performance against HJK wasn’t too bad either, but goals are still hard to achieve.

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Under 2.5 at 1.79

KuPS v Jaro – Are KuPS safe at all? – Sunday 13:00

The Savonian side has had an extremely weak autumn. Since August they’ve managed to grab only 3 wins, 2 of them against their favorite opponent HIFK. Goal scoring has been a season-long struggle and goalie Tomi Maanoja has been left alone too often.

The two teams met in their previous fixture in Pietarsaari. KuPS had a better control over the game, but couldn’t seal the deal, not even from an injury time penalty. Jaro are too reliable on Rivera’s and Eremenko junior’s individual performances, and without a pure striker, goals are hard to score.

With a win Jaro would drag itself to a safer zone, while KuPS would suddenly have to panic about their own safety. Rajamäki’s side have still a tough two games after this, facing HJK and RoPS.

KuPS’ Petteri Pennanen is injured as are Jaro’s Brunell and Emet. No suspensions in either squad.

What we learned from their previous clash wasn’t exactly anything new: scoring is tough. Can’t see a big difference to this game.

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Under 2.5 at 1.70

IFK M v RoPS – Aaland an easy destination for RoPS? – Monday 16:30

Winning the Cup was a hard fought achievement for IFK Mariehamn. After years of high-profiled squads failing to grab a league medal and a spot in European competitions, IFK got its awaited medal and European games. The remaining league games are more of a ‘could we care less?’ campaign for Lyyski’s boys.

RoPS on the other hand are thirsty for the biggest award, the league title. The Lapland team are still yet to win the league, despite being a top tier regular. The first half hosting VPS was absolutely brilliant football by Malinen’s lads, and VPS’ 5-man defensive line couldn’t stand against it.

No suspensions or injuries in either squad. Eero Markkanen has recovered from flu.

RoPS are really on a roll. Defenders Abdou Jammeh and Faith Friday Obilor were chosen to the team of the month, and Canadian goalie Tomer Chencinski is solid as a rock. Goals are not anymore lying solely on Aleksandr Kokko, as midfielders and defenders are taking also part in scoring. Does anything really speak for the home team?

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: RoPS -0.25 at 2.08
