Sunderland v Arsenal Asian Handicap Preview – Saturday 29th October by @SC457

Sunderland v Arsenal – Stadium of Light at 12:30 live on Sky Sports 1

Both Sunderland and Arsenal were involved in midweek EFL Cup action and now meet each other in the Premier League this Saturday. The Gunners come into the match as strong favourites and on recent form they look good value to cover -1.5 on the Asian Handicap market.

Sunderland

David Moyes has had a difficult start to life as Sunderland manager. He is without a win in the Premier League after 9 games, losing 7.

The Black Cats were enjoying some more success in the league cup, picking up wins against Shrewsbury and QPR but were knocked out by Southampton on Wednesday. It was evident that the pressure is getting to Moyes, after being sent to the stands for an altercation with match officials.

From the seven league games they’ve lost, just two were by 2 or more goals, but their record against Arsenal is very poor.

Sunderland have won just once in their last 25 matches against Arsenal, back in 2009, losing 15, drawing 9. They have also never managed to score more than twice against the Gunners and Moyes has lost 14 times to Arsene Wenger. The pressure looks set to build.

Arsenal

The North Londoners had an opportunity to steal a march on Man City and Spurs last weekend, but failed to defeat Boro at the Emirates. They enjoyed over 75% of the ball and created a number of chances but couldn’t find the breakthrough, just their second blank this season.

Arsenal have been looking really good in attack, scoring an average of 2.11 goals per game in the EPL this season. It’s at the back though where they are really excelling.

The Gunners now have 7 clean sheets in their last 8 outings in all competitions. They have also conceded just 8 times in their last 15 visits to the Stadium of Light. Another clean sheet could be on the cards here.

All evidence points to a comfortable away win here for Arsenal. They are just one of two teams who are unbeaten on the road in the league, winning 3 of their 4 road matches.

The Gunners are chalked up at 1.42 which still offers some value. For a healthier profit though, back the 2.17 on offer for Arsenal to cover -1.5 on the Asian Handicap market.

For my recommendation though, I’m turning to the AH half time market. Arsenal have started their matches fast this season, scoring 6 goals in the first 30 minutes so far. They will be keen to make amends for their goalless draw last weekend and should get at the Black Cats from the off.

Asian Handicap Recommendation: Arsenal -0.5 Half Time at 1.92
