Thomas Muller started his football career at the age of 10, playing with German club TSV Pahl in his youth career. In 2000, he joined local Bundesliga side Bayern Munich, developing through the club’s youth system. He was part of the team that finished as runner-ups during the 2007 Under-19 Bundesliga. He made his debut for Bayern’s reserve team, Bayern Munich II, in March 2008 when he played as a substitute for Stephan Furstner in match against SpVgg Unterhaching in the Regionalliga. The next season, Muller was established as Bayern’s key player having 32 appearances in 38 matches and scoring a total of 15 times, becoming the league’s fifth top scorer. He was promoted to the first team and made his debut in August 2008, playing a replacement for Miroslav Klose in a match against Hamburger SV.
Muller was placed in the first team at the start of the season immediately after signing his two-year contract for Bayern Munich’s senior team. He appeared as a regular replacement for the first few fixtures but later started during a match against Borussia Dortmund where he scored two goals in a 5-1 win. He ended the season with 34 Bundesliga matches, 13 goals, and 11 assists to his name. He was voted as the 2009-10 season best newcomer and was named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season.
The next season was quite productive for the German stalwart, having been awarded Man of the Match at the start of the campaign and winning goals throughout the whole season. In the 2012-13 season, he helped Bayern Munich accomplish a record-breaking start to the season when he scored a brace in a 5-0 win against Fortuna Dusseldorf, which was also the club’s eighth consecutive victory. At the beginning of the 2014-15 season, he declined a contract offer from Manchester United and extended his contract with Bayern Munich, keeping him at the club until 2019. In April 2015, he became the most scoring German player in the UEFA Champions League during a match against Porto. Muller continued his stunning performance throughout the 2015-16, 2016-17, and 2017-18 seasons, while also becoming the youngest player to win 50 UEFA Champions League fixtures in 2015, breaking the record of Barcelona’s Lionel Messi. The football phenomenon also became the fastest player to reach 200 Bundesliga wins when he notched the match-winning goal against Schalke, breaking Bastian Schweinsteiger’s record.
Since joining FC Bayern Munich at the age of 10, Thomas Muller developed into one of the world’s top footballers and a serial winner. He has reveled in a highly successful international career to date, collecting six Bundesliga titles, four DFB-Pokal, four DFL-Supercup, one UEFA Champions League, one UEFA Super Cup, and a Club World Cup with Bayern Munich. He was also a part of the FIFA World Cup All-Star Team, FIFA World Cup Dream Team, and the FIFPro World XI 3й Team during the 2014 season.
