Celtics v Hornets
Boston were not able to tame the wild Warriors last Sunday at TD Garden. Golden State’s Kevin Durant made 33 points that night with nine rebounds, while Stephen Curry made 24 points and Klay Thompson scored 21. The 32 points from Kyrie Irving was not able to block the Warriors’ 115-111 win over Celtics.
Nonetheless, Boston are able to beat Brooklyn last Tuesday at home. Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart both scored 21 points each that night to beat the 25 from D’Angelo Russell and lead the Celtics’ 112-104 win over the Nets.
Prior to fall to the Golden State, the Celtics are hot and bragging a five-game winning streak. Within the streak is a 117-108 win over Toronto at TD Garden. Kawhi Leonard made 33 points to beat the 27 from Irving, but not enough to stop a Celtics win over the Raptors.
After that, the Boston also beat Memphis at home, where irving made 38 points to beat the 26 from Mike Conley and lead a 122-116 Celtics win over the Grizzlies.
Boston also defeated Atlanta at State Farm. The 18 points from Kevin Huerter was not able to beat the 32 from Irving. The game concluded in a 113-105 Celtics win against the Hawks.
Furthermore, Boston emerged victorious in their games with Miami Heat 107-99 and Cleveland Cavaliers 123-103.
The Celtics will be hosting the Hornets on Thursday at TD Garden, and Boston are expected to dominate with a line of Celtics -8.
On the other hand, the Hornets are an average team with two losses and three wins out of their last five matches.
Charlotte are not able to defeat the hottest teams in the league as they lost to the Indiana Pacers 120-95 last week at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, as well as to the Milwaukee Bucks 108-99 last Saturday at Fiserv Forum.
The Hornets are able to beat teams with the worst league record though, as they defeated the New York Knicks 101-92 last Tuesday and the Phoenix Suns 135-115 last week.
Pelicans v Nuggets
New Orleans are hot after beating the much hotter Rockets last Wednesday at their very home at Houston. James Harden still shot a monstrous score of 37, while the Pelicans’ Jahlil Okafor made 27 points to lead the New Orleans victory. The win broke a three-game skid that the Pels had suffered with.
Last Sunday, the Pels lost 126-114 to San Antonio at Smoothie King, where Jrue Holiday made 29 points to beat the 28 from LaMarcus Aldridge but not enough to stop a Spurs win over New Orleans.
New Orleans also fell to Oklahoma City last Friday at Chesapeake Energy Arena, where Russell Westbrook made 23 points to beat the 22 from Holiday and lead a 122-116 Thunder win over the Pels.
The Pelicans also lost to Detroit last week at Smoothie King. Blake Griffin made 37 points and scored 20 of it in the first quarter to top the 29 from Holiday and lead a 98-94 Pistons win over New Orleans.
On Thursday, the Pels will be relying on an excellent spark of momentum from their domination over Houston as they will be facing Denver at Smoothie King Center.
Jamal Murray was ruled out in Denver’s upcoming match with the Pels on Thursday, but the Nuggets need not to worry much as Nikola Jokic is back in the game after a 1-match suspension.
Denver will be flexing a three-game winning streak to the Pelicans on Thursday. The Nuggets beat the Grizzlies last Tuesday at FedExForum, where Mike Gasol made 28 points to beat the 24 from Jokic but not enough to frustrate a 95-92 Denver win over Memphis.
Denver also beat Philadelphia last Sunday at Pepsi Center, where Jokic scored 32 points to top the 22 from JJ Redick and secure a 110-126 Nuggets win over the 76ers.
Paul Millsap also scored 20 points last Saturday to lead a 132-95 Denver win over Phoenix, despite Jokic being out of the game and Devin Booker making 35 points.
With Anthony Davis still expected to be out of the game with a finger injury, the Pelicans might have a rough night on Thursday as denver are given a line of -8.5 to Over/Under 226.
Trail Blazers v Jazz
Utah will be visiting Moda Center on Thursday to face the Trail Blazers with confidence about their defense. The Jazz have an excellent defensive power lately, allowing only 105.1 points per game and ranking fourth in defensive rating at 104.8.
Utah are also bragging an excellent form with only one loss out of their last ten games. They beat the Timberwolves twice, the first of which was last Saturday at Vivint Smart Home Arena where Karl-Anthony Town made 33 points to top the 24 from Donovan Mitchell but not enough to frustrate a 106-102 Jass win over Minnesota.
The Jazz beat the wolves again last Monday at Target Center, where Mitchell had 29 points complemented by 18 points and eight assists from Ricky Rubio to top the 35 points from Andrew Wiggins and secure a 125-111 Utah win over Minnesota.
Utah are also stunning in their 114-108 win over Denver last week at home. Mitchell made 35 points to advance ahead of the 28 points from Nikola Jokic.
Jazz lost last week to Portland 109-104 and they will be looking for retaliation on Thursday at the Trail Blazers’ nest.
Portland, on the other hand, will be looking to complete a winning streak against the Utah Jazz at home.
