NBA Asian Handicap Previews – 17th January Thursday

The Celtics premier player Kyrie Irving missed Boston’s loss to Brooklyn last Tuesday due to a quad contusion, although he was not listed on the team’s injury report for that day.

Boston just lost this Tuesday to the Nets at Barclays Center. Brooklyn ended a 10-game skid in that night, winning 109-102 against the Celtics. D’Angelo Russell made 18 points throughout the third quarter and ended up scoring 34 points by the end of the game, equalizing with the 34 points from Jayson Tatum.

That Celtics loss fed what people perceived as Boston’s weakness on away games. Boston has been winless in three games on the road, and their away tally falls 10-13.

Prior to Tuesday, Boston also lost to Orlando Magic last Sunday at Amway Center. Aaron Gordon scored 28 points and 12 rebounds to make some magic and lead Orlando to a 105-103 win over the Celtics. Kyrie Irving made 25 points in that match, not enough to stop an away loss.

Furthermore, the Celtics fell to a 99-115 loss to Miami Heat last Friday at American Airlines Arena away from home. Irving made 22 points that night, but not enough to top the combined points from Dwayne Wade and Josh Richardson which are 19 and 18 points respectively.

The Celtics’ current skid isn not just an issue in their away record, but in their current game record as well. They are about to return home this Thursday to guest the Raptors at TD Garden.

While Boston is notably weak in away games, they also have significant strength in home games with 15-5 record.

Henceforth, a game with Toronto might mean good news for the Celtics as the Raptors are 15-8 in away matches while they are standing at the top of the Eastern Conference.

The Raptors are hot so far, flexing a five-game winning streak, three of which are home wins and two are away. Caution should be observed though in talking about the Raptors’ performance in away games as Toronto are away when they defeated the Bucks 123-116 earlier this month.

No one can really stop the skyrocketing launch of the unbelievable statistics of the Rockets’ James Harden as he made 57 points in Houston’s 112-94 victory over Memphis last Tuesday at Toyota Center.

The victory almost erased people’s memory of Houston’s loss to Orlando Magic last Monday at Amway Center, where Harden went 1 for 17 from the three-point range. Despite that terrible statistic though, he was able to end the game with 38 points made.

Last Saturday, Harden also made a triple-double with 43 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists to lead the Rockets to a 141-113 victory over Cleveland Cavaliers at Toyota Center.

This premier Houston shooting guard also had a chance to face the Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo last Thursday. The Greek freak was not able to beat Harden’s 42 points with his 27, but Milwaukee still bagged the victory 116-109.

Houston also thrashed Denver last week at Toyota Center. Harden made 32 points complemented by a career-high 31 points from Clint Capela to lead the Rockets to a 125-113 win over the Nuggets.

The Rockets will be hosting the Nets on Thursday at Toyota. Houston will also be struggling on their Thursday game as well as in their succeeding games for 4-6 weeks as Capela was ruled out with injury in the thumb.

The Nets are an average team so far with three wins out of their last five matches, including a 109-102 victory over the Boston Celtics last Tuesday at Barclays Center. The Nets’ D’Angelo Russell made 34 points that night to equalized with the 34 points from the Celtics’ Jayson Tatum.

The win was a retaliation after Brooklyn lost to Boston last week at TD Garden. Rodions Kurucs made 24 points that night to top the 17 points from Kyrie Irving, but not enough to stop a 116-95 Celtics win over the Nets.

Furthermore, the Nets has been thrashed by the Raptors last Saturday at Scotiabank Arena, where the 24 points from Russell was not able to top the 20 points and 11 rebounds from Kawhi Leonard.

That loss to Toronto is one bad preparatory game for the Nets as they will be facing one of the most fiery squads in the Western Conference.

With Harden giving out 30 points as well as 40 points and even over 50 points in his recent games, it will be quite reasonable to expect heavy thrashing for Brooklyn from Houston.

Tipster are giving a line of Houston -4 to Over/Under 221.5.

Okay, the Warriors are unstoppable now after they feasted on the Denver Nuggets last Wednesday at Pepsi Center. The Golden State dipped the Nuggets on their own sauce when the Warriors made a stunning 51 points at the first quarter on the Denver court.

The Warriors poured so much curry sauce in the game as Stephen Curry made 31 points to which Klay Thompson added another 31 to secure the 142-111 victory for the Golden State and thrashing for the Nuggets.

Denver’s defense was proven to be extremely weak as the Warriors shot 60 percent from the field. Kevin Durant made 27 points that night, while Draymond Green scored four points and 13 assists.

It was the Golden State’s fifth consecutive win, beating the Sacramento Kings, New York knicks, Chicago Bulls, and Dallas Mavericks along the the way.

While the domination over Denver was good news for the Golden State, it means bad omen for New Orleans.

The Pelicans have a relatively good form lately, with only one loss out of their last five matches.

They have an excellent win last tuesday over the LA Clippers at Staples Center, where Anthony Davis made 46 points and 16 rebounds complemented by 27 points from Julius Randle to top the 26 points from LA’s Montrezl Harrell and lead New Orleans to a 121-117 win against the Clippers.

The Pelicans’ most recent defeat was a 106-110 fall to Minnesota last Sunday at Target Center, where Davis made 30 points but not enough to beat the 27 points and a career-high 27 rebounds from Karl-Anthony Towns.

New Orleans also made two wins over the Cleveland Cavaliers twice and one victory over Memphis.

However, good form will not be enough for the Pelicans to pull off an easy victory from their upcoming Thursday rivals, and New Orleans’ best player Davis should brace himself to lead his team through a ridiculously dense jungle.
