Man Utd v Wolfsburg Asian Handicap Betting Preview – Wednesday 30th September by @SC457

Man Utd v Wolfsburg – Old Trafford at 19:45 live on BT Sport Europe

Man Utd’s return to the Champions League got off to a terrible start two week’s ago, losing to PSV having taken the lead. It was made worse by the horrific injury suffered by Luke Shaw, which will see him out of action for at least 6 months. Louis Van Gaal knows that there is now little room for error in Group B as they welcome Wolfsburg this evening.

Man Utd are starting to play with confidence, especially at home and why wouldn’t they, having won 5 of their 6 matches at Old Trafford in all competitions this season. They currently sit at the top of the Premier League for the first time in over 2 years and despite not looking to be at their best, they have only lost once in the league in 7 games this term.

They have the BPL’s best defence, conceding just 5 times and have scored in all but one of their 11 competitive matches this season. They have a lot of attacking options and plenty of pace with the likes of youngsters Depay and Martial and with Rooney and Mata behind, can cause problems even to Europe’s elite.

The Red Devil’s defence on the other hand is stretched pretty thinly, with Luke Shaw side-lined for the foreseeable future, Rojo is also out and Paddy McNair is doubtful. Daley Blind has been played out of position all season and may well be targeted by Wolfsburg as a weakness. Despite their patched up defence, they have been strong so far this season, but any more injuries or suspensions and Utd could be in trouble.

Wolfsburg have made an inconsistent start to their Bundesliga campaign, winning just 3 of their opening 7 matches. Last years runners-up have only lost once but that was a 5-1 thrashing by Robert Lewandowski and Bayern Munich. Instead of bouncing back last weekend they could only manage a draw with Hannover and may be lacking confidence.

Die Wolfe ground out a 1-0 win over CSKA in the opening UCL match but tonight will be a lot tougher for them. They were wasteful in front of goal at the weekend and without Kevin De Bruyne, they don’t look the attacking force they were last season. With the likes of Bas Dost, Julien Draxler, Andre Schurrle and Max Kruse, they have the talent but they are not firing on all cylinders yet but I expect it will come.

Dieter Hecking’s men have failed to win away from home in the league this season and come into this match as underdogs. Despite their potential and obvious threats, I don’t think Wolfsburg will come away with anything from this match and backing them +0.75 on the Asian Handicap betting market at 2.07 is too short for me to be getting involved with. United’s confidence and record of 20 wins from 27 matches at Old Trafford under LVG, makes the Utd -0.75 price of 1.95 very backable.

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Man Utd -0.75 at 1.95
