Barcelona v PSG – Camp Nou at 19:45 live on BT Sport
PSG travel to the Camp Nou on Wednesday night for their last 16 Champions League 2nd leg match against Barcelona. The French Champions bring a 4-0 advantage into the game after an impressive first leg at the Parc des Princes which also landed us a winner, backing them +0.25 on the Asian Handicap market.
The hosts have a lot to do in order to turn this tie around. Despite being big underdogs to make it through to the quarter finals, they are strong favourites to win on the night and offer some value on the Asian Handicap market.
Barca’s 4-0 defeat in Paris was just their 4th in all competitions this season. It was their first loss since they went down 3-1 to Pep Guardiola’s Man City in the group stages of this competition last November.
Since losing to City, the Catalan’s have won 13 of their 17 UCL and La Liga matches, drawing 4. They have won 8 of their last 9 league games, scoring an impressive 34 goals in the process.
Barcelona simply didn’t turn up in the first leg and were completely outplayed. It was the first time ever they failed to score against PSG.
The manner in which they lost was a shock and probably finalised Luis Enrique’s decision to leave the club in the summer.
No club has ever overturned a 4-0 defeat in the Champions League to progress to the next round but if one team can do it, it’s Barcelona.
PSG were as good as the scoreline suggest in Paris, making it look easy. After that impressive result, they are as short as 1.05 to make it through to the next round despite being 7.11 underdogs for Wednesday’s match.
Les Parisiens are in good form, undefeated in 7 UCL matches this term (W4 D3) and have won 8 of their last Ligue 1 fixtures (D2). However, even after their commanding performance in the first leg, don’t be tempted by their price.
The visitors have not won in five attempts at the Camp Nou and are in a position where they can still qualify losing by 2 or 3 goals.
At 1.48, the hosts offer some real value for this game. They hold a strong record over their opponents at home and are up against a team that doesn’t have to win, just limit the damage.
I think the task is too tough for Luis Enrique’s side, but it doesn’t mean they won’t give it a go. They have the fire power and talent to make it possible but I think they will fall short.
However, even money -1.25 on the Asian Handicap market looks a great price to me as I expect them to win this by 2 goals.
