Everton v Crystal Palace Asian Handicap Preview – Friday 30th September

Everton v Crystal Palace – Goodison Park at 20:00 live on Sky Sports 2

After a busy midweek of European action, we now turn our attention back to the Premier League. Friday night’s match between Everton and Crystal Palace offers some value on the Asian Handicap market.

Life under Ronald Koeman started very well, 2nd in the league having played 5 matches. After a solid opening day draw against Tottenham, the Toffee’s went on a 4 match winning streak, 5 in all competitions.

That run of 5 wins yielded 13 goals and 3 clean sheets. The Merseysiders have since dropped down to 5th after a defeat last time out to Bournemouth. That was their 2nd defeat in a row after a 2-0 reversal against Norwich in the EFL Cup.

Despite those back to back defeats, morale should be high around the club. Koeman has brought something new to the club and confidence is high. They have been excellent in attack and the good news is that Lukaku is back to full fitness for this fixture.

Another area of strength is their defence. With just 4 goals conceded in the league so far this season, only Tottenham have a better record.

Crystal Palace

The Eagles started their season as they finished off the last, with two defeats. Palace looked as though they would struggle after losses to West Brom and Tottenham before nicking an injury time draw against Bournemouth.

Pardew now seems to have found the solution to their woes having led his side to 3 league wins on the spin. That run has lifted them up to 7th but their defence is still cause for concern.

Crystal Palace have failed to keep a clean sheet in six league games this season and I see that trend continuing on Friday night.

They have the momentum though and will look to take advantage of Everton and inflict their third loss in a row. If they were to win, it would be the first time they have won 4 in a row since April 2015.

Asian Handicap & Total Goals

Crystal Palace have been a bit underestimated here. Their recent record at Goodison park is good, unbeaten in 3, W2 D1. In fact, they have only lost 1 of their last 6 meetings with Everton in the Premier League. At 5.29 they look a good price on recent form and their head to head record.

One thing against them is their tendency to ship goals but the Toffeemen’s price of 1.71 does not appeal. Everton could well bounce back here form their recent losses but it’s Palace who offer value +0.75 on the Asian Handicap at odds against.

Historically, this match has goals, with an average of 2.64 per game. Everton’s defensive record this term is very good but they have conceded in their last 3 matches in all competitions. Over 2.5 goals is offered at 1.82, which despite the trend, is too short to get involved with.

I’d prefer to be on the Unders at 2.12 in what I expect to be a close match, but I’ll stick with Palace on the Asian Handicap for my recommendation.
