Боруссия Мёнхенгладбах - Кельн Матч Предварительный просмотр - 9 февраля воскресенье

Borussia Monchengladbach v Koln – BORUSSIA-PARK at 14:30 GMT live at BT Sport

Borussia Monchengladbach were made to rue what could have been last weekend as the Foals failed to clinch maximum points away at RB Leipzig despite an eye-catching performance.

Marco Rose’s visitors were as scintillating as the home side were flat in the first-half, and could have led by more than the two goals scored by Alessane Plea and Jonas Hoffman. Instead a mix-up between the reliable Yann Sommer and Denis Zakaria allowed Leipzig pull one back and after Plea was sent off for two bookings for dissent, RB levelled in the final minute with a piledriver.

Keen to avoid the same fate as in their 3-1 loss to Leipzig on Matchday 3, Marco Rose tweaked his tactics to nullify Leipzig’s threat with Zakaria dropping into the heart of a three-man backline. Despite only filling that role once previously this season against Dortmund, the Swiss international adeptly took Timo Werner out of the game as part of a stifling first 45 minutes for Gladbach.

Gladbach’s approach was paying dividends until the red card and the Foals were understandably frustrated by the final score with Rose saying, “Above all I want to say how proud I am of my guys for the performance they put in from start to finish – the first half performance was very, very good.”

He added, “With 10-men it was very difficult. We executed our game plan, we played exceptionally, but we’re only going home with a point. It’s a tough one to swallow.” Sommer called for more “tact”, while goalscorer Hofmann highlighted the sending off as “the game-changing moment”.

Gladbach to get back to winning ways

The Foals will hope to get back on track this Sunday afternoon as they return to their fortress Borussia-Park base. Gladbach have earned a league-best 26 points from 10 games in front of their home supporters (W8-D1-L1) by an aggregate 26-12 – six of those seven triumphs arrived by two goals or more.

With that in mind, the 1.87 available on Monchengladbach to overcome a -0.75 Asian Handicap hurdle has to be considered against Koln this weekend. This selection would see our selection return a half-stakes profit should the Foals win by exactly one goal with a full pay-out enjoyed should Gladbach win by more.

Koln have tabled four triumphs from five since Markus Gisdol took charge, including a 4-0 thrashing of Freiburg last weekend. However, the Billy Goats best performances arrive in the Cathedral City and convincing defeats at Bayer Munich, Leipzig and Dortmund suggest they could be in for a tough afternoon.

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation:  Monchengladbach -0.75 at 1.870
