Augsburg v Hertha Berlin Match Preview – 24th November Sunday

Augsburg v Hertha Berlin – WWK Arena 2019 at 14:30 GMT LIVE AT BT Sport

Sunday afternoon sees fellow Bundesliga strugglers Augsburg and Hertha Berlin lock horns with Martin Schmidt and counterpart Ante Covic under pressure to turn their teams’ ailing fortunes around. The duo are sitting nervously and uncomfortably above the bottom-three after 11 rounds of action.

Augsburg snapped a six-match winless run prior to the international break with a crucial 1-0 victory away at bottom side Paderborn to move out of the relegation zone. Philipp Max was the match-winner that day with his first-half free-kick, but goals have been at a premium for Die Fuggerstädter this term.

The Bavarians have bagged just 13 times and with last season’s top goalscorer Alfred Finnbogason ruled out until next year, the hosts will be fielding current leading marksman Florian Niederlechner as a lone striker again here, with Germany U21 international Marco Richter playing out wide.

Although goals have been hard to come by, Augsburg have at least generated enough open play opportunities to consider Die Fuggerstädter a reasonable attacking threat under Schmidt, particularly at their Augsburg Arena base.  The hosts have scored in all bar three of their last 22 Bundesliga battles here.

Capital club to provide goalmouth action

Hertha Berlin are without a league win in four games stretching back to the start of October against Fortuna Düsseldorf. While they have scored two goals in each of their last two home games, the capital club have netted just one in their last two on the road since putting four past Koln on Matchday 6.

Covic, though, has a slight selection headache in attack with one of Marius Wolf, Dodi Lukebakio, Javairo Dilrosun and captain Vedad Ibisevic likely to miss out. The plethora of forward options should encourage Hertha followers with the visitors looking to continue their offensively-minded approach under the Croat.

Hertha have been regular operators in goal-heavy games over the past 16 months with a whopping 15/23 (65%) of their away days breaking the Over 2.5 Goals barrier as matches have averaged 3.05 goals per-game. Ten of those 23 ties also produced at least four goals and a similar outcome wouldn’t surprise here.

Augsburg might be safety-first when outside of Bavaria but in front of their home supporters, few Bundesliga teams are more reliable for high-scoring shootouts than Die Fuggerstädter. Schmidt’s side have crossed the Over 2.5 Goals whitewash in 18/22 (82%) of matches here with 13 (59%) also going Over 3.5.

Asian Total Goals Betting Recommendation: Over 2.50 goals at 1.720
