Real Madrid v AC Milan – Shanghai Stadium at 13:00 live on Sky Sports 1
Real Madrid continue their already impressive pre-season in the International Champions Cup this afternoon against AC Milan in Shanghai. They drew with Roma 0-0 in their opening match of the competition, but went on to lose on penalties. They bounced back with a 4-1 win over Man City and a 3-0 win over AC Milan’s rivals Inter, covering their Asian Handicap line in both.
AC Milan have only played one match in the competition so far, a 1-0 win over Inter last Saturday where Phillipe Mexes scored arguably the goal of pre-season.
Los Blancos had a trophyless season last year so the pressure is on new manager Rafa Benitez for the upcoming season already. The task for Real Madrid is simple, well simple on paper, bring La Liga title back to the Bernabeu. Beating Barcelona to the league crown will not be an easy task but Real’s preparations so far this summer have been good and they already look like a team who will compete both domestically and in Europe.
The Rossoneri have had a disappointing couple of seasons in Serie A finishing 8th in 13/14 then 10th last term, a disaster for a team of Milan’s stature in Europe. Sinisa Mihajlovic has replaced Filippo Inzaghi as manager and is it’s up to him to get Milan back to the top of Italian and European football. They are a long way off Juventus who have won the Scudetto for the past 4 season’s and the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern in Europe.
Real Madrid should have too much for Milan to deal with this afternoon but it will be a good test for the Italians. Despite being a friendly, both sides are expected to field a strong starting XI and it will help Milan determine how far behind they are from Europe’s top clubs.
I have no doubt there will be goals in this one but the Overs prices are far too short to be getting stuck into.
Real Madrid have been very impressive in their last two friendlies and have shown their class. AC Milan have a much stronger squad than when finishing 10th in the league last season but they are still some way off the class of Los Blancos.
For my Asian Handicap betting recommendation I’m going with the odds against price on Real Madrid -1.25, but get in quick because it’s shortening up fast.
Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Real Madrid – 1.25 @ 2.03
Prices correct at time of writing.
