Real Betis v Levante Asian Handicap Preview – 17th August Friday

Real Betis v Levante Live at Eleven Sports

The new La Liga season kicks-off on Friday night and Real Betis look to start their new campaign off to a winning start when Levante pitch up in the city of Seville.

Betis finished with a flourish to claim a Europa League berth last term and Quique Setien’s swashbuckling side are expected to amongst the leading candidates for continental qualification once more in 2018/19.

Los Verdiblancos tabled the same tally of points in the second half of the campaign as Valencia and were clinical when entertaining the lesser lights of La Liga. The Andalusians were competitive on their travels to the big guns and appear to have strengthened significantly in the summer.

Fabian Ruiz’s departure to Napoli is a blow but the arrival of William Carvalho is a statement of intent. Sergio Canales and Takashi Inui are interesting additions, while Riyad Boudebouz is expected to play a more prominent role having completed a full pre-season.

Whether Setien will alter his attack-minded approach to compete in two major competitions remains to be seen, although continental commitments are bound to have an effect on Betis’ output this term. Nevertheless, there are few concerns as the Andalusians get their campaign underway here.

Betis backed to start with a success

Los Verdiblancos returned W9-D4-L1 when welcoming La Liga teams outside of the top-six and with that in mind, the hosts make interesting 1.75 shots with a -0.50 start on the Asian Handicap line to overcome against Levante.

The visitors consolidated on their return to the top-flight last term, finishing up a full 17 points above the drop zone in 15th. However, the Frogs were right in the relegation mix before ditching Juan Muniz for Paco Lopez. The new boss guided the group to a wonderful W8-D1s-L2 as they eventually secured safety with ease.

Levante managed just W4-D7-L8 on their travels and with a quiet transfer window, including just a couple of defensive reinforcements, making major improvements at the back looks unlikely. The Frogs still pack punch in the final-third, although repeating the results under Paco Lopez could be a tall order.

With that in mind, I’m happy to oppose the guests with Betis an attractive price to start the season with a home success.
