Loftus Road – 8th November at 5.30pm.
After a desperately poor start to the season, Premier League new boys QPR have finally shown some signs of life in what already looks like being a season long battle against relegation. Three encouraging performances against Liverpool, Aston Villa and Chelsea has improved confidence around the club and with nothing to lose against Manchester City, Loftus Road should be buzzing this weekend.
Meanwhile, the champions are in disarray with just one win in their past five matches including the midweek defeat at home against CSKA Moscow, which has almost ended their European campaign at the group stage yet again. The most worrying aspect of this poor run of form is their nervous looking defence which has conceded eight goals over this period and with David Silva out injured, they aren’t as fluid in attack as usual.
If you discount the crazy end to the match against Liverpool, QPR’s home record would read P5 W2 D2 L1 and with Charlie Austin in form, they can definitely cause problems for City’s frail defence. Four of City’s last five opponents have scored at least two goals against them and with the Asian Handicap line set at, QPR +1.25 it could take four goals from Manuel Pellegrini’s team to cover.
City will be keen to rediscover their best form as quickly as possible but it won’t be easy to do that down in West London on Saturday evening. Backing QPR +1.25 at 1.94 looks like a great chance to take on the champions and profit based on the two sides current form.
