West Ham United v Huddersfield
Huddersfield will be making a trip to the London Stadium on Saturday to meet with West Ham United as these two teams battle in the Premier League. The hosts are currently positioned at the 9th spot and will be looking forward to cruise past the Watford and the Wolverhampton Wanderers in the standings. Huddersfield, on the other hand, are firmly stuck in the bottom of the table, a massive 16 points below the safe zone.
West Ham have been experiencing some inconsistencies in recent weeks. Their frustratingly inconsistent form persisted when they fell in the hands of the relegation strugglers Cardiff City in a 2-0 loss over the weekend. This result recorded a tally of two victories, two draws, and four losses in their previous 8 Premier League fixtures.
However, Manuel Pellegrini’s men proved to be much more efficient at home than on the road. They are undefeated in five of their Premier League fixtures at home and were able to keep two clean sheets. If they manage to remain consistent at home, it might give them a chance to qualify for a spot in the Europa League.
In the meantime, Huddersfield will be desperate to secure a win on Saturday if they want to remain in the league next season. Jan Siewert’s men have been in a disastrous form since the beginning of the season. Although they were able to pick up a few good outcomes along the way, they are still just one step before they hit the Championship League.
Goals haven’t been abundant for the Terriers this season, scoring just an average of one goal in every two matches. They lack an attacking prowess that is essential for a team who wants to remain above the line.
Bournemouth v Newcastle
A clash between two teams who are separated by just one place in the Premier League standings is set to take place. Newcastle United will pay a visit to the Vitality Stadium to face Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon. The Cherries returned to their winning form when they dominated Huddersfield in a 2-0 victory over the weekend. As for Newcastle, they will enter this match fresh off a 3-2 victory against Everton.
The Cherries faced quite a rollercoaster campaign this season. They were able to rise from the depths of their awful shape though when they beat Huddersfield, ending a string of five winless fixtures. The result they acquired over the weekend just put them back in the race for a place in the top half of the standings.
On Saturday, Eddie Howe and his men will be aiming to secure their first league victory at home since January when they shockingly demolished Chelsea in a 4-0 thrashing. Bournemouth are currently at the 12th spot in the table, just a point below Leicester City at the 10th place. Furthermore, the Cherries have proved to be a very difficult side to overpower at home, losing just four times in the league so far this season.
On the other hand, Rafa Benitez and his men are in a convincing form lately. Newcastle will face Saturday’s opponents in a confident mood after winning three matches in four outings. Their success at home drove them further up the standings in the league as they now sit at the 13th spot in the table.
However, the Magpies only came out successful in 2 of their 14 fixtures this season which could hinder their performance on Saturday. Newcastle will need to pay attention to their form on the road if they want to ensure survival when they face the Cherries.
Burnley v Leicester City
Burnley will welcome Leicester City at Turf Moor on Saturday evening for some Premier League action. The hosts are currently seated at the 17th place in the table, just a few points above the relegation zone. With this, they will be desperate to seek a much-needed victory to overcome a Leicester side that sit comfortably in at the 10th spot.
Even though Leicester sit at the top half of the table, they haven’t been overly convincing this season. Their form on the road have been worse either. The Foxes failed to achieve success in their past four away fixtures in the league. They also kept just four clean sheets overall. Moreover, Saturday could be quite tough for them since they will take on Burnley, who managed to score in each of their nine matches at home.
However, Leicester are a team that are very much capable of thrashing struggling teams. They were able to dominate Fulham in a 3-1 margin at home. This result isn’t that great though since Fulham are already in the bottom of the table and are doomed for relegation.
Meanwhile, Burnley will enter Saturday’s match fresh off the back of a 4-2 demolishing in the hands of league leaders Liverpool. This is was their third successive defeat in the Premier League after losing to both Crystal Palace and Newcastle.
In addition, Burnley have one of the weakest defensive records in the league at the moment. Nevertheless, Sean Dyche will definitely rely on the home advantage and his men’s fine shape at home. The Clarets actually won four and drew one of their five league matches at Turf Moor.
