Premier League Match Previews – 10th March Sunday

Liverpool v Burnley

Liverpool will be looking forward to returning to their winning ways when they take on relegation strugglers Burnley for their Premier League clash on Sunday afternoon. Burnley will be making a trip to Anfield, also looking to bounce back from a string of upsetting performances. The Reds will be entering this match fresh off the back of a 0-0 draw with Everton, while the visitors are also off the back of a 3-1 loss at home against Crystal Palace.

The previous weeks were quite difficult for the hosts. They shared a frustrating draw against a surprisingly impressive Everton side. Liverpool’s underwhelming slip-up during the Merseyside Derby came just after their 0-0 draw with Manchester United. These series of failures for the Reds allowed Manchester City to increase the gap between them at the Premier League standings.

Liverpool will definitely be desperate in securing the victory against Burnley if they want to overtake City at the top of the table and keep their title hopes alive. Despite their draws, Liverpool are still undefeated in 35 Premier League fixtures at home in a run since April of last season.

On the other hand, Burnley managed to slip again following consecutive defeats against Newcastle United and Crystal Palace after a remarkable performance during the start of the year. The Clarets will need to win this match if they want to stay above the relegation zone. However, it would definitely be a tough test for them since they will be facing a side in the opposite end of the table.

An entertaining clash between these two will certainly take place. However, Jurgen Klopp and his men will be entering this fixture as the favourites to come out as winners. Sean Dyche’s men shouldn’t be underestimated though since Premier League underdogs also have the capability of being able to surprise teams even those at the top.

Chelsea v Wolves

Chelsea will still have a big chance of claiming a top four finish in the Premier League especially after overpowering the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham. However, they will once again be put to test when they take on the Wolverhampton Wanderers, who are capable of overpowering even top-ranked teams, at Stamford Bridge on Sunday for their league showdown.

Chelsea will be entering this match fresh off the back of a 3-0 win against Dynamo Kyiv in the first leg of the Europa League last-16. The Wanderers, on the other hand, won their most recent fixture against Cardiff City in a 2-0 win.

Maurizio Sarri’s spell at Stamford Bridge looked pretty miserable after they were demolished by Manchester City in a 6-0 thrashing, Manchester United’s progression to the FA Cup, and the most recent controversy which is the EFL Cup final issue with Kepa Arrizabalaga.

However, the Blues managed to make their comeback when they won against Tottenham Hotspur in a 2-0 home victory. If the Blues secure a win in their match against the Wolves, they will be able to take the 4th spot in the standings.

In the meantime, the Wolverhampton Wanderers were also able to display outstanding results and performances especially against a couple of teams from the big six this season. They also managed to overpower Chelsea in a 2-1 victory at home. With this, they will definitely not be fazed when they face the Blues on Sunday.

Furthermore, they have quite the capability of troubling teams even those at the top of the standings. The Wolves don’t have a good record at Stamford Bridge though. Apart from this, they only gained one point when they faced Bournemouth and Huddersfield in their previous two matches on the road.

Arsenal v Manchester United

A massive clash is about to take place at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. Arsenal will be welcoming Manchester United in one of the biggest Premier League fixtures on the weekend. Manchester United have already overpowered the Gunners out of the FA Cup at the Emirates this season. They will now enter this match looking forward to secure the victory against Arsenal once again.

The Red Devils have definitely returned to their greatness ever since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over at Old Trafford. Just recently, they managed to recover from their 2-0 first leg deficit against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League round of 16 tie when they got away with a 3-1 triumph to reach the quarter-finals. However, their attention will now be back on the Premier League and their quest for a place in the league’s top-four finish.

Manchester United’s talisman Paul Pogba will also return with the team after his suspension against PSG, just in time for Sunday’s clash against the Gunners. A loss would not cost anything for either teams, but a victory would be a massive booster. If Manchester United manage to secure a win, it would put them four points above Arsenal in the standings.

Arsenal, on the other hand, have been solid in the league so far this season especially at home. Unai Emery and his men were able to claim victories in recent weeks against the likes of Southampton, Bournemouth, and Belarusian side BATE in the Europa League. The Gunners will be entering this match fresh off the back of a shocking 3-1 loss to Rennes in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16 draw. They may be desperate to claim the win here in order to bounce back from their recent defeat.
