Stadium of Light – Wednesday 3rd December 19:45
Sunderland play host to the Premier League Champions, just 4 days after claiming a hard earned point against league leaders Chelsea at the Stadium of Light. There’s definitely some strong signs that Gus Poyet’s team have fully recovered from the humiliating 8-0 defeat to Southampton, earlier in the season.
The Black Cats are now unbeaten in 4 and with only 2 goals conceded in that period, so there’s some logic in taking on the champions this week. Although, City have been very good away from home this year, their record against Sunderland leaves a lot to be desired. They have managed just a single point from the last 3 meetings of the sides and with Vincent Kompany injured, it could be another tricky match for the Citizens as they try to close the gap on Chelsea at the top of the table.
It is unlikely that Sunderland will be able to record another famous victory this week against their more successful rivals, who are in an impressive vein of form themselves at the moment. However, with Sunderland +1 at a juicy looking 2.08 and with the draw on our side, we have to take the value underdog tonight.
