CHELSEA V LEICESTER
Chelsea will be hosting Leicester on Saturday, hoping to close the gap at the top of the Premier League tables.
Both of the teams did good in the Carabao Cup. Chelsea defeated Bournemouth 1-0 last Wednesday, while Leicester stunned Man City when they held them in a 1-1 draw last Tuesday.
Chelsea is undefeated in four of their last games. Before their last action in the Carabao Cup, they beat Brighton 2-1 back home in the Premier League. They also humiliated Man City when they made a 2-0 goal against them. Additionally, they made a 2-2 draw with MOL Vidi in their Europa League campaign.
Leicester is doing relatively fine as well but they are quite in a struggle lately. They won against Watford 2-0 earlier this month, but they remained winless in their last four games. After their victory over Watford, they held Fulham into a 1-1 draw, but lost afterwards to Tottenham 0-2, and Crystal Palace 0-1. They may, however, generate a bit of confidence from their 1-1 draw with Man City.
Chelsea’s Eden Hazard will definitely score goals for the team on Saturday given his great form recently. Hazard made a crucial role in the team’s 1-2 victory at the AMEX last sunday with significant goals and assists. He delivered an impressive number of nine assists so far in the season, the highest number for any player in the top five European Leagues as of now.
Chelsea’s record of six wins and three draws out of their nine home matches in the English primary division would erase any doubt of the superiority of Maurizio Sarri’s squad in this Saturday match. But a lack of confidence on Leicester’s part will not do a difference either.
MAN CITY V CRYSTAL PALACE
Etihad Stadium will have a warm weekend as Manchester City will face Crystal Palace in the race for Premier League leadership.
Man City is making a come back of form after their league victory against Everton last weekend. The squad will also be having enough confidence for Saturday as Kevin De Bruyne returns from injury, helping the team’s progress in their Carabao Cup campaign. Standing good at the top of the Group F of the UEFA Champions League, they defeated Hoffenheim last week. Although they lost 0-2 to Chelsea, they made a 2-1 win over Watford and 3-1 against Bournemouth back home in the Premier League.
On the other hand, Crystal Palace did great in their recent performance against Leicester City, defeating them 1-0, although they lost to West Ham United and Brighton earlier this month. Palace’s midfielder Luka Milivojevic made the sole goal of the match against Leicester, striking it before the break.
Nonetheless, the stability of Palace’s steady form is limited to home. Away from their home, they have not made any recent victories since their 1-0 domination over Huddersfield back in September.
At the first day of the month, Crystal Palace beat Burnley 2-0, and made a goalless draw with Manchester United in a game from the previous month.
Crystal Palace’s head coach Roy Hodgson is satisfied with the squad’s defensive strength, and this would do good for the team as they face league top 2 Man City on Saturday.
Palace, however, will be facing the likes of City’s Raheem Sterling, who has netted a goal in all the but 1 of his appearances at home this league season.
EVERTON V TOTTENHAM
A three-game winning streak pushed the Tottenham Hotspurs ahead of Chelsea in the Premier League table, directly below Manchester City. The Spurs will be in a run to stretch their excellent surge of form in their match with Everton on Sunday at Goodison Park.
Tottenham is currently bragging a five-match unbeaten streak in this time of the season so far. They were victorious in their Wednesday match against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup Quarter-Final, one of the Gunners’ misfortune following the break of their 22-game unbeaten streak. It was sweet revenge for the Spurs after they themselves lost to Arsenal at the starting week of the month.
Back in the Premier League, the Spurs scored a 1-0 win over Burnley, after their 2-0 win in a match against Leicester and a 3-1 victory against Southampton earlier this month.
Tottenham are also doing good at Group B of the Champions League after their 1-1 draw with Barcelona. They are currently sitting second in the group directly below the Spanish club.
Meanwhile, Everton has never taste a win so far since their 1-0 victory over Cardiff City last month. They lost to Man City last Saturday, and held draw with Watford and Newcastle back in the Premier League. Prior to the draw was also a 0-1 defeat to Liverpool. To be fair though, they held Chelsea into a goalless draw last month.
So far, the Hotspurs are unstoppable following their victory over the Gunners. Harry Kane is still doing much of the action securing the team’s lead in their game with Burnley.
Tottenham are also good travelers with an impressive record of eight wins out of their ten away matches in the season.
