Brighton v Everton
Despite being just 7 games into the Premier League season, this one looks as though it could be a relegation 6-pointer. If you’d told Everton fans that at the start of the season, they’d have been dismayed.
That has been the extent of Ronald Koeman’s bad start to the season, though. Whilst the 2-1 win over Bournemouth looked as though it could’ve been the springboard the Toffees needed, things came crashing back down to earth with a 2-2 home draw to Apollon Limassol in the Europa League and a 1-0 loss to Burnley before the international break.
In Brighton, Everton faces a side in and around them and Koeman will know that he needs to beat Chris Hughton’s side to avoid a relegation scrap towards the end of the season. It’s the teams around you that you have to beat.
Hughton will know that this match presents a real opportunity to gain points in a match he probably would’ve written off at the start of the season. The 1-0 win at home against Newcastle will give the Seagulls boss hope that they can beat those around them.

Southampton v Newcastle
Just two wins from seven games is not the start Saints boss Mauricio Pellegrino would’ve been hoping for on the South Coast. His side has struggled for goals and the fans have started to become disgruntled with poor performances.
Newcastle fans are entirely the opposite. After what seemed like a doomed season ahead during pre-season, Rafa Benitez has masterminded his Magpies side to three wins already this year. The 1-1 draw before the international break against Liverpool will have given Benitez and the Newcastle faithful hope of taking points from the St Mary’s.
There’s no doubt this will be a tight game, neither side has managed to score too many goals this year and Benitez will be likely to set his side up defensively away from home.
