Swansea City v Tottenham Hotspur
Swansea City shocked the football world last week when they appointed recently sacked Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal as their new manager. The Portuguese manager, who has experience managing Braga, Sporting Clube de Portugal and Besiktas, could’ve chosen to spectate matches over the festive period, but decided to jump straight into the hot-seat.
His decision was vindicated against Watford, where his Swansea side came from one-behind to beat Marco Silva’s Watford. It was a fantastic start for Carvalhal, who is certainly up against it in his quest to save the South Wales club from relegation.
The new Swans boss will know that his side has a tough test on January 2nd when they welcome Spurs to the Liberty Stadium. Mauricio Pochettino’s side is deadly and can beat anyone on their day. Harry Kane will be hoping to continue his fine form in the new year.

Manchester City v Watford
What a 2017 it was for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. They currently a top of the Premier League table, with 14 points separating them and second place Chelsea. Only a fool would bet against Guardiola’s men winning the title right now.
Guardiola would’ve been disappointed with his side’s 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace on the weekend, but he has been clear all along that his side cannot win every game.
Tenth place Watford won their first match in eight on Boxing Day, but Marco Silva will be disappointed that his side lost another game on the weekend. Swansea, under new boss Carlos Carvalhal, came from behind to beat Watford 2-1.
Silva will be preparing himself for another loss here but will have taken spirit from Crystal Palace’s point against the leaders.

Southampton v Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson will be buoyed by his side’s valiant display against leaders Manchester City. The relegation strugglers fought hard and let an impressive Manchester City attack at bay for ninety minutes. Hodgson’s side could’ve taken all three points late on, but Luka Milivojevic saw his penalty saved in what was an eventful game.
With just four wins this season, Southampton will be hoping to start 2018 as they mean to go on. With Virgil Van Dijk finally a Liverpool player, boss Mauricio Pellegrino will be hoping a win here can inspire his side forward as he looks to strengthen his side in the January transfer window.
