Liverpool v Newcastle – Anfield at 20:00 live on Sky Sports 1

A cracking weekend of Premier League action for Asian Handicap Betting punters is topped off tonight with Newcastle’s visit to Anfield, in this week’s Monday night football offering and it’s live!

Liverpool’s bid for a Champions League place took another knock yesterday as Manchester United dispatched local rivals City in a dominant 4-2 win which leaves Brendan Rodgers team seven points behind forth placed City with seven games to play.

However, if they can get back to winning ways tonight that gap will be down to just four points so the Reds have everything to play for as the season reaches its climax. Plus, their form before losing to Arsenal and Manchester United was exceptional.

Prior to those damaging losses, their run of 13 games without defeat included impressive victories against Tottenham, Southampton and Manchester City. Tonight they face a Newcastle side who seem to have checked out already, with just two wins in ten and four straight defeats the Geordies seem to be dreaming of their summer holidays before the season has ended.

But there are selection issues for Rodgers to deal with as Martin Skrtel and Steven Gerrard are still sitting out due to their red card suspensions, while Jordan Ibe, Daniel Sturridge, Adam Lallana, Mamadou Sakho and Mario Balotelli are all doubts for tonight’s match.

John Carver has a host of his own injury concerns with several players out through long term injury and Papiss Cisse & Fabricio Coloccini both suspended for tonight’s match as well.

This is a match up which usually produces goals with the average for total goals in their league games up at three per match and the bookies have subsequently gone quite short on the Over 2.5 Goals market.

But there is some value on the away side in the main Asian Handicap Betting line, as we have priced up Newcastle +1.25 at around 1.75 but that line is available at odds against with some bookies! The only problem is, are Newcastle playing well enough to keep this game close and return us a profit?

One stat in our favour is that Liverpool have only fully covered a -1.25 line in three of their 16 home matches this season but Newcastle have failed to cover this line in six away games and five of those were against the top five teams. With the other coming at Everton a couple of weeks ago.

With Newcastle most likely needing to score at least one, if not two goals tonight to secure us a full profit and no value in Liverpool’s price this match, it is officially a no bet tonight for us but this is another way that professional punters win in the long run. Not betting unless there’s value to bet on saves valuable money in the long run.
