On 2012, he joined Portuguese football league team Rio Ave. Not long after, he was recruited by Spanish Segunda Division club Real Madrid Castilla on a season loan. He had his professional debut on their match against Villarreal that ended at 2-1. By April 2013, he netted his first goal—an equalizer—in the draw with Club Deportivo. He also appeared for Spanish giants Real Madrid that same year and assisted a goal in win over Malaga.

After learning much from the South American side, the defensive midfielder’s next destination was France. He made the move to Ligue 1 club AS Monaco on another loan deal and quickly became a mainstay in the starting lineup. He shot his first goal for the club in their sweeping 6-0 home triumph against Lens in the Coupe de France. His skills and development escalated during his stay with the Les rouges et Blancs and he helped the team climb the summit of Ligue 1. He has scored over 30 goals in 230 games for Monaco and has gone on to participate in the 2015 Copa America. He was tapped by Dunga to be part of the 23-man squad that represented Brazil in the international South American tournament.
Champions League finalist Liverpool FC confirmed just days ago their £40 million deal to secure the services of Fabinho ahead of Manchester United and Atletico Madrid. The midfield enforcer is Jurgen Klopp’s’ first signing of the summer. He will officially be part of the Reds on July 1 and has since stated in interviews his excitement over the transfer. He comes in as a replacement for Emre Can who’s expected to sign for Juventus. Fabinho’s addition to the team is seen by many as a solution to Liverpool’s biggest issue: squad depth. The defense powerhouse is regarded as a potential key asset in stocking the area of the pitch Liverpool has previously struggled with. Klopp has expressed belief that the capped player will improve the quality and mentality of his team to all-new levels.
Fabinho Tavares along with other new Reds recruits could be the answer to Liverpool’s lack of speed and variety that was seen in their heartbreaking loss in Kiev.
