Formative Career and Football Career:
At just a young age, Angel Correa is already regarded as one of the best players in the football scene. He began playing at a very early age of 12 in Sagrado Corazon y Tiro before being invited for a short training by Club Atletico San Lorenzo in Buenos Aires for a youth setup in 2007. His stay in Buenos Aires has improved a lot of his skills and technical abilities which then helped him progress in the rankings in 2012, landing a professional deal with Bolivian football club, Atletico Ciclon. He was immediately promoted to the first-team in 2013, just a couple of months after joining the club.
In early 2013, then San Lorenzo coach included him in the list of players going against Newell’s Old Boys, making this match his debut with the team. By next season, he was a regular in the first team squad, and his form throughout the season caught the eyes of several football leagues.
In 2014, he was among the players to be included in the Argentine under-20 list for the 2015 South American Youth Football Championship; scoring four goals which helped secure the victory for Argentina. His stay in Ciclon was fruitful, finishing his last season with the team with four goals in 13 appearances.
Angel Correa signed a five-year-contract with La Liga holders Atletico Madrid. However, in June, he was sidelined for six months due to a heart tumour that was found during his Colchoneros medical. After undergoing surgery the same month, he started a light training in August. He returned in the football scene six months after his surgery, officially joining the club in December, just in time for the South American Youth Championship where he helped Argentina secure a victory. He was also named Player of the Tournament during the tournament.
The young Argentine made his debut for the Madrid outfit in 2015, substituting for Oliver Torres in a 1-0 victory in a season match opener against UD Las Palmas. He scored his first goal for the club in the same year, achieving the first goal in a 2-0 win over SD Eibar.
Correa is often described as someone having a low centre of gravity which works for his and the team’s advantage since it helped him become a difficult player to defend against. He possesses outstanding technical abilities and speed which improves more and more the longer he plays for the Spanish outfit. He is well praised by Atletico’s manager Diego Simeone for his courage and confidence on the field.
As of now, Angel Correa is regarded as one of the best football players in the La Liga division.
