PSG v Leicester – StubHub Centre, California at 04:30 live on Sky Sports 1
The second match of Leicester’s debut in the International Champions Cup see’s them go head to head with French Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint-Germain at the home of LA Galaxy, the StubHub centre. Although just a friendly, this is a big match for Leicester who will be competing alongside the likes of PSG in the Champions League this year after their incredible title winning season.
The Foxes opened their ICC 2016 campaign with a 1-1 draw against Scottish champions Celtic. PFA player of the year Riyad Mahrez opened the scoring before Celtic defender Eoghan O’Connell took the match to penalties, which ended in Leicester’s favour.
The Premier League holders looked good against Celtic as they step up their preparations for their first title defence and PSG should pose a lot tougher challenge than Celtic. It will be a good gauge to see where they are against Europe’s elite as will next Wednesday’s match against Spanish giants Barcelona in Stockholm.
PSG are the current International Champions Cup holders from the northern hemisphere and have started this year as they finished last year. New boss Unai Emery had hit the ground running, registering a win in their opening ICC match, defeating Inter Milan 3-1 in Oregon, right-back Serge Aurier scoring a brace. Three days later, they recorded another 3-1 win over reigning Champions League winners Real Madrid, with Thomas Meunier netting twice.
It’s clear that Les Parisiens take this competition fairly seriously in preparation for the upcoming season in which they will be defending their league title along with the Coupe de France and Coupe de Ligue trophies. One trophy that has eluded them is the UCL and with Emery’s record in Europe, albeit the Europa League, fans will have high hopes for the new campaign.
Both sides will be up for this one and the the prices suggest we are in for an open game with some goals. Over 3 goals is trading at 2.17 on the Asian line which I think offers some value. For my recommendation however, I’m with PSG -0.5 on the Asian Handicap betting market.
Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Paris Saint-Germain -0.5 at 1.85
Prices correct at time of writing.
