Palmeiras v Atletico MG – Asian Handicap Betting Preview – Sunday 24th July by @LewisJones1992

Palmeiras v Atletico MG – Allianz Parque at 15:00

We have a huge game to look forward to in the Brazilian top flight on Sunday afternoon as Palmeiras host Atletico MG in the 3PM GMT kick off.

Palmeiras currently sit top of the table with 32 points from 15 games, three ahead of local rivals Corinthians and five in front of third placed Gremio. They’ll host MG who sit in eighth place but just three points outside the Copa Libertedores places.

This could potentially be Gabriel Jesus’ last game in a Palmeiras shirt as it is rumoured that both Manchester City and Manchester United are going to bid between £22-£26m for the forward. This prospect should excite the fans of both Manchester clubs as Jesus is a fantastically gifted individual who has a keen eye for goal. In 15 games this season he’s already netted ten times.

Palmeiras are flying when it comes to scoring goals with this side having netted just over 2.00 goals per game in the opening half of the season Should Jesus leave they’ll have to act quickly to find a replacement should they wish to continue their surge towards the title.

Having picked up ten points from their last four games you have to feel that all the momentum is with the home side in Sunday’s fixture. In fact Palmeiras managed to show true signs of a champion last Sunday when they travelled to face Internacional who have an outstanding home record. After a tough game Palmeiras managed to come away with the three points following a solo goal from Erik Lima.

Former Fluminense and Brazilian national team forward Fred now leads the line for Atletico MG alongside former Brazilian poster boy and Real Madrid forward Robinho. Following a controversial move from Fluminense where he clashed with manager L.Culpi, the forward has flourished in a new environment bagging himself six goals in this seasons campaign.

Robinho has managed to emulate what he has done all throughout his career which is blow hot and cold throughout the season almost depending on what mood the forward is in on the day.

MG have only managed one away win so far this campaign which came in a 0-1 victory over their local rivals America MG who everyone seems to be able to beat this season, I like Palmeiras here as I feel they’re a real title contender this campaign and to do so they’ll need to pick up three points in games like this in their own back garden!

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Palmeiras -0.50 at 1.96
