Olympiakos v Arsenal Asian Handicap Betting Preview – Wednesday 9th December by @SC457

Olympiakos v Arsenal – Karaiskakis Stadium at 19:45 live on BT Sport Europe

Arsenal travel to Greece to face Olympiakos in their last UCL group game with a mountain to climb. Making it to the last 16 is in the hands of the Gunners but they must defeat the Greek champions by 2 clear goals, or by a single goal if they score 3 or more.

Olympiakos will be looking to make it through to the knock-out stage at the expense of Arsenal, having not made it out of the group stage in 3 of the last 4 years.

This will be Arsenal’s fourth trip to face Olympiakos since 2009 and the stakes couldn’t be much higher. History is not on Arsene Wenger’s side, having lost all three of their previous away encounters, however they were essentially dead rubbers.

Their shock 3-2 defeat against the hosts at the Emirates in back in September though, was competitive and has left the Gunners 3 points behind the Greeks and are the underdogs to make it through.

It will be the first time in 15 years Arsenal have not been present in the last 16 of the Champions League if they fail, but are 2.11 favourites to win this evening despite a very long injury list and winning just 7 of their last 8 final group games in the UCL. Again, dead rubbers with Wenger selecting a second string team.

You can back them at 4.0 -1.5 on the Asian Handicap betting market.

Olympiakos are unbeaten in 6 homes ties against English opposition and domestically have won all 12 of their league fixtures this season. They have scored 34 goals in those 12 games, including 4 in each of their last 2 outings, but Arsenal will prove more of a test than the likes of Panthrakikos and Tripolis.

This should be a thrilling game, with Arsenal expected to come out fighting from the off. Whether Olympiakos will attempt to defend for 90 minutes remains to be seen, but if there is an early Arsenal goal, it should open it up even more. As a result, the Overs selections are on the short side, Over 2.5 at 1.75 and Over 2.75 at 1.90.

There is no doubt that this is going to be a very tough test for Arsenal but the statistics which point to there being more value on Olympiakos are skewed by the fact a lot of the results were not competitive matches. Therefore I’m with Arsenal -0.5 on the Asian Handicap betting market at 2.11.

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Arsenal -0.5 at 2.11
