Newcastle v Chelsea Asian Handicap Betting Preview – Saturday 26th September by @SC457

Newcastle v Chelsea – St. James’ Park at 17:30 live on Sky Sports 1

Steve McClaren’s terrible start to his reign as Newcastle boss went from bad to worse in the Capital One cup on Wednesday as he saw his side knocked out by Championship side, Sheffield Wednesday. The Magpies are yet to pick up their first win of the season but hold a good record over Chelsea at St. James Park, winning their last 3 meetings , but I see no value in backing them even on the Asian Handicap betting market.

With just 2 points from their opening 6 league matches, Newcastle sit in 19th, a place above arch-rivals Sunderland, but that will be little comfort to fans. They are the leagues lowest scorers with just 3 goals, failing to score in 4 of their 6 matches and it’s no surprise they have created the fewest chances, just 37 (15 on target), 6.12 per game.

Aleksandar Mitrovic will be a welcome return for the Magpies having served his 3 match suspension but Papiss Cisse is doubtful due to a back injury. Losing Cisse will be a blow for Newcastle, he has scored against the Blues 4 times in the BPL, only against Stoke and Swansea has he scored as many.

Chelsea’s awful start to the season looks like it might be starting to turn around after winning their last 3 games in all competitions. They registered only their second league win against Arsenal last Saturday which was packed full of talking points and has resulted in Diego Costa receiving a 3 match ban for violent conduct.

Going on previous results without the Spanish striker, described as ‘cheat’ by his own teammate, Chelsea shouldn’t miss Costa. The Blues have won 8 and drawn 4 of their 12 BPL matches that Costa has missed since the start of last season.

Loic Remy is expected to take Costa’s place and I’m sure he will relish a return to his old club and will want to impress and I believe he’ll make an impact.

Chelsea’a main problem this term has been their defence, last season’s strongest rearguard, has now conceded 12 goals in 6, only Sunderland have conceded more. No other team in the league has as many shot on target against them (40), but they should be able to keep a very poor attacking Newcastle side at bay.

It remains to be seen if Chelsea are back to their best and despite their recent record away to Newcastle, I’m expecting Mourinho to finally win a league match at St. James’ Park and they represent the value. Backing them on the Asian Handicap betting market -1 at a very juicy 2.13 is my recommendation.

Chelsea haven’t been great but are improving and Newcastle are simply woeful.

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Chelsea -1 at 2.13
