NBA Asian Handicap Previews – 15th January Tuesday

Boston’s top point guard Kyrie Irving will step the court in Brooklyn but his play will be doubtful as he is currently suffering from a bruise in the quadriceps.

The Celtics suffered from two losses lately, the most recent of which is a 103-105 defeat to the Orlando Magic last Sunday. The 25 points from Kyrie Irving was not able to hold off the 28 points and 12 rebounds from Magic’s Aaron Gordon at Amway Center to secure victory for Orlando.

Boston also lost to Miami last Friday. The Heat’s Dwyane Wade made 19 points to which Josh Richardson added 18 points to top Irving’s 22 points and leading Miami to a 115-99 domination over the Celtics at American Airlines Arena.

Prior to these losses though, Boston enjoyed a four-game winning streak.

Earlier this month, the Celtics defeated Minnesota at TD Garden. Boston’s Gordon Hayward made a season-high 35 points that night to top the 31 points from Andrew Wiggins and leading the Celtics to a 102-115 win.

Boston also made a 114-93 domination over the Dallas Mavericks earlier this month at home, where Jaylen Brown made 21 points complemented by 16 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists.

Last Thursday, the Celtics also made a 135-108 victory over the Indiana Pacers at TD Garden, where Marcus Morris made 22 points and eight rebounds. Brown also made 22 points that night and, with another 20 points from Jayson Tatum, led Boston to a dominating conclusion over Indiana.

Brooklyn also fell to the Celtics at TD last Tuesday. The Nets Rodion Kurucs generated 24 points that night, higher than the 17 made by Irving, but he was not able to stop Boston from bagging the 116-95 win over Brooklyn.

The Celtics will face the Nets again on Tuesday and everyone is expecting another Boston domination on that upcoming night.

To be fair, Brooklyn are in a relatively good form, bragging wins over New Orleans 126-121, as well as 109-100 against the Grizzlies and 116-100 over Atlanta. However, the Nets’ losses to the Celtics as well as to the Raptors overshadows their victories.

While Irving’s play is doubtful on Tuesday, Brooklyn’s Caris LeVert and D’Angelo Russell are left to face the Celtics’ emerging guns such as Brown, Tatum, Hayward, and Morris.

Thus, tipsters are giving a line of -4.5 to Boston Over/Under 221.

The Sacramento Kings will host the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday at Golden 1 and it will probably be the most fiery match of the week as the Kings are given a line of -2 to Over/Under 227.

Sacramento are hot earlier this month after they made 41 3-pointers together with Golden State in a historic match earlier this month at Golden 1 Center. Although the match ended in a 127-123 Warriors’ win, the game made much power in the Kings’ statistics as they made 20-for-36, while the Warriors had 21-for-47.

Despite having just suffered from a four-game skid, Sacramento has been recovering lately with wins over the likes of Orlando, Detroit, and Charlotte.

Last Tuesday, Sacramento beat the Orlando Magic 111-95 at Golden 1 Center, where De’Aaron Fox generated 20 points to break the Kings’ four-game losing streak and equalize the 20 points from Orlando’s Terrence Ross.

This feat was followed by another one as the Kings won 112-102 over the Pistons last Friday at home. Buddy Hield scored 18 points that night to top the 16 points from Detroit’s Stanley Johnson. Hield’s score was complemented by 14 points and 14 rebounds from Willie Cauley-Stein, as well as 13 points from Iman Shumpert and 12 from Fox.

Sacramento’s most notable win so far was probably their 104-97 win over the Hornets last Sunday, again, at home. Bogdan Bogdanovic scored 22 points that night, while Cauley-stein made a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Standing fifth in the Western Conference, the Trail Blazers are in no way a mediocre team.

Portland have been beaten only once out of their last five games and that defeat was to the Denver Nuggets. The loss was not even that bad as the tally concluded in a 116-113, considering the fact that Denver’s Nikola Jokic also made 40 points in that Monday game.

Additionally, it is worth remembering the Trail Blazers game with the Houston earlier this month where Portland ended the Rockets’ six-game winning streak as well as James Harden’s 40-point 5-game run. That is surely something.

Portland’s upcoming rivals the Kings are only tenth in the West and it is quite strange how tipsters had given the line to Sacramento. The only way to figure out why though is to see the end of the game.

The Pelicans will fly to Staples Center on Tuesday to face the Clippers.

New Orleans have been beaten only twice in their last five matches, the most recent of which is a 110-106 fall to Minnesota last Sunday at Target Center. Power forward Anthony Davis shot 30 points in that game to top the 27 points from Karl-Anthony Towns. Town made a career-high 27 rebounds in that game though for the Wolves to prey on the Pelicans.

Prior to that loss, New Orleans had a three-match winning streak with one win over the Grizzlies and two victories against the Cavaliers.

Last Thursday, the Pelicans made a 140-124 domination over Cleveland at Smoothie King Center, where Davis made 38 points and 13 rebounds to top the 21 points from Jordan Clarkson.

It was New Orleans’ second victory over the Cavs after they defeated them earlier this month at Quicken Loans Arena, where Jrue Holiday and Julius Randle both made 22 points each to dominate over Clarkson’s 23 points.

The Pelicans also dominated over the Grizzlies last Tuesday at Smoothie King center. Davis made 36 points that game to beat the 22 points from Mike Conley, leading a 114-95 New Orleans victory over Memphis.

New Orleans are twelfth in the Western Conference, while the LA Clippers are fifth and this overview of both of the teams’ standings are enough to draw what team gets much of the edge.

Additionally, while LA are beaten by the Nuggets 121-100 last Friday at Pepsi Center, it is worth remembering that the Clippers also defeated Denver 132-111 last month.

The Clippers also won 118-107 in their derby with the Lakers latter in the previous month at Staples.

LA are given a line of -2.5 to Over/Under 239.
