Appearance of Minnesota’s Derrick Rose is doubtful on their Saturday match with Orlando, but  tipsters still suggest a line of -6 for the Timberwolves.

Rose is still suffering from an ankle sprain he got from the Wolves’ overtime 120-123 loss to the Atlanta Hawks last Saturday. Nevertheless though, Minnesota could still pull off victories without its premier point guard as evident in their 113-104 win over Miami Heat last Monday at American Airlines Arena.

Jeff Teague also missed the game with Miami that night with ankle inflammation, his seventh consecutive absence so far. Tague is also expected to be out in the Wolves’ game with Orlando on Saturday.

With Rose out of Minnesota’s recent games, Andrew Wiggins excelled in the Wolves’ 102-115 loss to the Celtics last Thursday at TD Garden, making 31 points. Karl-Anthony Towns also made a good 28 points in another 114-124 Timberwolves defeat to the New Orleans Pelicans last Tuesday at Smoothie King Center.

Additionally, Minnesota will be flexing their 114-112 win against Oklahoma City Thunder from the previous month where Wiggins made 30 points, including a go-ahead layup in the remaining 14 seconds.

Orlando, on the other hand, suffered a four-game losing streak at the later part of the previous month. They obtained defeats to San Antonio 129-99 and Chicago Bulls 90-80, as well as to Miami 115-91 and the Suns 122-120.

Even with Rose out of the action, the Wolves have one of the hottest players in the league today. Wiggins have been impressing recently with his games where he scored at least 30 points. The Wolves also have Karl-Anthony Towns who has been averaging a powerful 28.2 points, 17.2 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 3.0 blocks a game.

However, Orlando are not completely handicapped as they could be bragging their victories against the likes of Raptors and Pistons. They won 116-87 last Saturday against Toronto at Amway Center where Magic’s Nikola Vucevic shot 30 points while Kawhi Leonard only made 21.

The Dallas Mavericks made enough momentum to start the new year right but their upward progression in the league will be threatened as they will be facing the Boston Celtics on Saturday at TD Garden.

Mavs’ super rookie Luka Doncic may dominate the game at Boston as the Celtics’ premier guard Kyrie Irving is expected to be out after suffering from eye inflammation.

Dallas are in a bad form last month after completing a six-game losing streak. They lost against the Phoenix Suns 99-89 and Sacramento Kings 120-113. They also had a taste of the biggest teams today as they have been defeated by the likes Denver Nuggets 126-118, LA Clippers 125-121, Golden State Warriors 120-116, and Portland Trail Blazers 121-118.

However, the Mavs have since recovered albeit in a roller coaster ride relationship with New Orleans and Oklahoma City. when they won 119-122 last week over the Pelicans, they also fell to the same team at 112-114. The same went with Oklahoma city, when the Mavs won 105-103 over Thunder last Monday, but lost to them the following day.

Dallas’ recent win was a 122-84 against Charlotte Hornets where Doncic and Dennis Smith Jr. shot a long-range domination last Thursday at Spectrum.

With Irving out of the Saturday game with Dallas, Boston is left to the hands of its other good players such as Jayson Tatum, Marcus Smart, and Robert Williams. Tatum is currently averaging 16.0 points a game, while Smart takes up the most steals made for Boston averaged at 1.9. Williams has the most blocks at 1.6 average.

Celtics are never short of good players. In Boston’s 115-102 win over Minnesota, Gordon Hayward made 35 points off the bench beating the 31 points from the Wolves’ Andrew Wiggins. Jaylen Brown also made 30 points in Boston’s 111-120 loss to the Spurs.

Celtics’ best guard might be out, but Boston’s pool is good enough to match and even advance further than Dallas’ ‘El Matador’ Luka Doncic.

Probably the most anticipated match on Saturday is the clash between Oklahoma City and Portland at Moda Center, one of the hottest games in the season so far. For this match, tipsters are suggesting a Trail Blazers PK Over/Under at 224.

Portland still have a fresh memory of their victories over the Kings, 76ers, and the Warriors.

Last Wednesday, the Trail Blazers defeated Sacramento 113-108 at Golden 1 where Damian Lillard made 27 points. Earlier this week, they also beat Philadelphia 129-95 at Moda Center. CJ McCollum dominated in that game after shooting 35 points.

Portland also made a 110-109 victory over the Golden State where Lillard shot a go-ahead 3-pointer at the remaining 6.3 seconds left in overtime. Lillard also made 40 points in the Trail Blazers’ following match with the Warriors, while Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant only made 25 points. The Warriors avenged their loss though as they won 115-105 against Portland.

Despite having their fill of heckles from a ridiculously hostile crowd towards Paul George, Oklahoma City are able to beat Los Angeles Lakers at 107-100. George made 37 points that Thursday night. With LeBron James injured, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope did much of the scoring for the Lakers at 25 points.

Thunder also won 122-102 over Dallas last Monday at Chesapeake Energy Arena where Russell Westbrook made 32 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. The victory was a follow up to Oklahoma’s 103-105 loss to the Mavericks where star rookie Luka Doncic made a layup at the final minute, saving the Mavs from a seemingly inevitable defeat. George nonetheless dominated with 36 points compared to Doncic’s 25.

Both Portland and Oklahoma City exerted stunning energy to start the year with enough force to improve their place in the table. The line between favourites and underdogs are blurred in this match, but seeing the likes of George, Westbrook, Lillard, McCollum, as well as Jusuf Nurkic in the same court makes this game more than interesting to watch and place bets on.
