Montpellier v Monaco – Stade de la Mosson at 17:55 live on BT Sport Europe
Montpellier welcome Monaco to the Stade de la Mosson this evening still in search of their first league win of the season. Monaco haven’t started their campaign too well either, winning just 2 matches from their opening 6 and come in to the match on the back of a home defeat to Lorient.
With 5 losses and 1 draw so far this season, Montpellier are sitting at the bottom of Ligue 1 with a single point. They have only managed to score twice in 6 games which needs to drastically improve but the 2 goals came in their last 2 games so they will be hoping for more tonight.
La Paillade have conceded 8 times which isn’t too bad considering they have played St Etienne and PSG, losing by a single goal to both. In fact, Montpellier have only been beaten by more than one goal once this term, on the opening day to Angers.
The home side are the underdogs going into this evening and are given +0.25 on the Asian Handicap betting market, a line they haven’t fully covered all season. You can back them +0.25 at 1.87 which I would advise to leave alone as the price is too short.
Monaco, who had last years strongest defence in Ligue , conceding just 26 times in 38 games, have already conceded 8 in 6 this term. They have averaged a goal a game but it’s their defence which needs strengthening and will hope for a clean sheet tonight against the league’s lowest scorers.
Thomas Lemar will be hoping to net his 3rd goal of the season and should cause Montpellier some trouble.
We are yet to see Monaco at their best but they should have too much for a poor Montpellier side this evening. A low scoring game is expected, but one I think the away side can nick to move them up into the top half of the table.
Monaco represent the value on the Asian Handicap betting market, -0.25 at 2.11, which will be my recommendation for tonight.
Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Monaco -0.25 at 2.11
