Manchester United v Arsenal – 5th December Wednesday

Manchester United v Arsenal – Old Trafford at 20:00 (GMT)

Arsenal will take their stellar undefeated run to Old Trafford on Wednesday as they meet with Manchester United for their Premier League clash. The Gunners will be coming into this game fresh off the back of their North London Derby victory against Tottenham Hotspur. Unai Emery’s side are currently undefeated in 19 fixtures throughout the competition and they will be taking on a Manchester side which continue to falter.

Manchester United are now winless in three of their Premier League fixtures and have been pushed down further in the table at 7th place. They now find themselves 8 points behind the top 5 in the standings. Unexpectedly, they came out victorious in half of their 6 home league fixtures this season and their 3-0 setback against the Spurs earlier in the season will surely be pondered heavily on their minds as they meet with the Gunners.

On the other hand, Arsenal managed to win 9 in their unbeaten fixtures, also coming out victorious in 4 of their 6 outings this season. The 32 league goals they were able to score are now second to Manchester City this campaign. Just recently, the Gunners showed another fantastic performance at the weekend when they overpowered North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in a 4-2 victory at the Emirates.

Manchester United and Arsenal have encountered each other for a total of 52 times in the Premier League, with United holding the bragging rights for having 24 wins to Arsenal’s 13. 16 of those wins came from Old Trafford, and shared a total of 15 draws.  Who among these two top-ranked teams will come out triumphant on Wednesday?

–          Mesut Ozil could be sidelined on the Arsenal bench after suffering from a back injury which also kept him out of the game against Tottenham Hotspur.

–          Ashley Young is said to be suspended after receiving his fifth yellow card of the campaign in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Southampton.

–          Nacho Monreal is also said to be ruled out of Wednesday’s meeting due to hamstring injury.

Manchester United v Arsenal: 1-3

Arsenal have been greatly impressive under boss Unai Emery, coming out victorious in almost all of their league fixtures. However, Manchester United is on the verge of a complete breakdown. The hosts are currently facing a lot of injury problems and are currently in poor form. However, based on their earlier and quite recent performances, it could be possible for the hosts to stand up against the Gunners.
