Manchester City v Arsenal – Etihad Stadium at 16:30 (UTC/GMT)
Manchester City are set to host a still hot Arsenal at Etihad Stadium with hopes of filling their 2-1 defeat to Newcastle last Tuesday.
Prior to that loss, City are flexing a four-game winning streak and these victories are not easy wins as it includes a win over the likes of Liverpool 2-1 earlier this month. The Citizens have been brutal in hammering Huddersfield 0-3, as well as the Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0 a few weeks ago.
In their FA Cup campaign, Man City beat Rotherham 7-0 earlier this month. Last week, they also stung Burnley 5-0 in the same campaign.
The Citizens are also unbeaten in their Champions League games, winning twice each against Shakhtar Donetsk and TSG Hoffenheim.
Meanwhile, the Gunners’ win over Chelsea from the previous month is still fresh and they will be bringing some bragging rights at Etihad on Sunday.
As fresher as the win over the Blues is Arsenal’s 22-game unbeaten streak earlier this season – a clear mark that they are not the same underdogs of the English top-tier as they used to be. This remains true despite their recent losses to West Ham 1-0 in the Premier League and Manchester United 1-3 in the FA Cup.
– Ederson might play for Sunday against Arsenal albeit the leg injury as he lacked another goalkeeper to cover him up.
– Despite being still unfit to play, Konstantinos Mavropanos was named on the bench during midweek. He might appear on Sunday but remains doubtful as of the moment.
– Bernardo silva, Riyad Mahrez, and Gabriel Jesus did not appear in the starting line during midweek, but are expected to appear in the City’s starting XI.
– Ainsley Maitland-Niles still suffers from knee injury, but team manager Unai Emery badly needs him to play against City on Sunday.
– Benjamin Mendy is expected to play despite injury.
– Denis Suarez will be playing for the Gunners in the following days after being signed up for a loan from Barcelona. Suarez will be on the bench in Arsenal’s Sunday game with Man City.
PROBABLE FORMATION AND STARTING XI
Manchester City: 4-3-3

Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Aaron Ramsey, Lucas Torreira, Granit Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Shkodran Mustafi, Nacho Monreal, Sead Kolasinac, Bernd Leno

He appeared 18 times in the English top-tier and scored five goals and two assists. He also have five appearances in the team’s EFL Cup campaign and scored five goals, as well as three goals in four plays in the Champions League so far in the season.
Raheem Sterling already scored 12 points in his 30 appearances for the City. Playing as right winger, he made ten goals and nine assists out of his 21 appearances in the current Premier League season. He also appeared six times in the team’s Champions League campaign and made a goal and two assists.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is Arsenal’s top gunner, scoring eighteen points in his 30 appearances in the current season. He already made 15 goals and four assists across 24 appearances in the Premier League as well as two goals in his three appearances in the Europa League.
Alexandre Lacazette plays as center-forward for the Gunners. He is the second highest scorer in Arsenal with eleven goals in his 30 appearances in the current season. He already made nine goals and six assists in his 23 plays in the English top-tier, as well as a goal and an assist in his three appearances for the team’s Europa League campaign.
Manchester City 3-1 Arsenal
While Unai Emery’s men will be hungry for more victories and better position within the league table, the Citizens have far better offensive moves that the Gunners could even handle. Arsenal’s win over Chelsea from the previous month is something to keep their spirits up, but not enough to bring the City to the knees, as the hosts had just beat Liverpool 2-1 earlier in January.
