Man Utd v West Brom – Old Trafford at 17:30 live on Sky Sports 1
Man Utd host West Brom in this Saturday’s Barclay’s Premier League evening kick off looking to pick up 3 of 6 points needed to secure a top 4 finish and a return to Champions League football. The Red Devils come in to the match on the back of two away defeats at the hands of Chelsea and Everton, but due to Liverpool’s woeful performances and form, picking up 4 points from a possible 15, Utd are still in the driving seat to finish in 4th above the Reds.
Utd may have lost their last 2 away matches but their home form is the best in the league, winning 14 from 17 losing just twice. They have won their last 6 in a row at Old Trafford, each by 2 goals or more, making them good value on the Asian Handicap Betting market this weekend.
They face a West Brom side who looked like they were heading for a relegation battle after 3 consecutive losses to City, QPR and Leicester. They have since won away at Palace and held Liverpool to a draw at the Hawthorns to take them up to 13th on 37 points, 7 points clear of the bottom 3.
The Baggies are relatively safe, despite a horrible run in which includes Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal, they also face an out of form Newcastle next weekend where they will look to pick up points but, even if they were to lose their remaining 4, I would still expect them to stay up.
Man Utd have won 16 of their last 21 league matches against West Brom, losing just once. The Baggies have also only managed to score in 3 of their last 13 visits to Old Trafford and with Utd’s 0.76 goals conceded per game at home, Tony Pulis may find it difficult to break through their defence this Saturday.
The Red Devil’s have failed to score in their last 2 league outings but haven’t gone 3 games without a goal in the Premier League since August 2007, I can’t see that happening against West Brom. With Wayne Rooney bang in form, scoring in 15 of his last 16 matches at home, and 6 in his last 7 against the Baggies, he will lead from the front and help his side to a comfortable win.
With 76% of Utd’s matches at Old Trafford seeing 3 or more goals and the last 10 meeting between the 2 sides averaging 3.9 goals per game, Over 2.5 goals at 1.82 looks to be a bit of value.
The standout value has to be with the home side on the Asian Handicap, Utd -1.5 at a huge 2.12 which they have covered in their last 6 home matches is where my money will be going.
Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Man Utd -1.5 @ 2.15
