Man Utd v PSG – Soldier Field, Chicago, Illinois at 02:05
Man Utd face PSG tonight in the International Champions Cup and can retain the title they won last year with either a win in normal time or on penalties.
Pre-season preparation has gone well for the Red Devils under Louis Van Gaal once again this summer having already beaten Club America, San Jose Earthquakes and more notably, Barcelona last Saturday 3-1 in the competition so far. They have covered their Asian Handicap line in 2 of their 3 matches, once as favourites, once as underdogs, they go into tonight at 2.39 with PSG at 3.2.
Utd looked very impressive against the current European champions with Wayne Rooney, Jesse Lingard and Adnan Januzaj all finding the back of the net. Barcelona were without Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr but LVG would have been pleased with his players performance.
It will be Utd’s last friendly before their match against Tottenham on Saturday 8th August in their opening game of the Premier League season. Last years pre-season went perfectly for LVG but they lost to Swansea in their first competitive match. They improved as the campaign went on but the Dutchman will be hoping to to hit the ground running this time.
PSG’s pre-season has also gone well, beating Benfica, and Fiorentina before drawing 1-1 with Chelsea, eventually losing on penalties to the Premier League champions. Its will be the Parisian’s last friendly before facing Lyon in the French Super Cup on Saturday ahead of their Ligue 1 opener against Lille on Friday 7th August.
The pressure on PSG to win the French league title is always there and they will be expected to win it again this year, however, the pressure is increasing on them to produce in the Champions League. They certainly have a squad that can compete with the other top European sides and the likely addition of Angel Di Maria will only enhance their chances of going further in the competition this time around,
Pre-season friendlies are always a bit of an experiment for managers but with this being the last friendly for both sides, we should see a fairly strong starting XI from Utd and PSG.
With the attacking talent that both sides have I’m expecting goals and the 1.79 available on Over 2.5 looks to be a generous price as does the 3.02 on Over 3.5 goals. For my recommendation though I’m siding with Utd on the Asian Handicap Betting market. They have impressed in this competition and should wrap up another ICC with a win in 90 minutes.
Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Man Utd -0.25 @ 2.08
