Lorient v PSG – Stade du Moustoir at 20:00 live on BT Sport Extra 2
My latest Asian Handicap preview focuses on Sunday’s Ligue 1 game between Lorient and PSG.
Lorient are in poor form, but it will be interesting to see how PSG react from their dramatic Champions League exit at the hands of Barcelona.
The home side are in terrible form, losing 5 consecutive games across all competitions.
Most recently, Lorient suffered a 4-1 defeat at home to Marseille and they look to be in real trouble.
Consistent poor results have meant that Lorient find themselves rock bottom of Ligue 1, on 22 points, 6 points off of safety.
At home, Lorient have also been struggling and they haven’t won at the Stade du Moustoir in the league since the 14th of January; a 3-1 win over Guingamp.
Finding the net has also proved a problem at times and Lorient have failed to score in 3 of their last 5 games.
Benjamin Moukandjo is Lorient’s top scorer with 8 league goals to his name and he did manage to get on the scoresheet against Marseille last weekend.
Defensively, Lorient have also been poor and they have conceded at least 1 goal in 86% of their home matches to date.
77% of Lorient’s points have been earned at home however and if they catch PSG on a bad day, they might have a chance of getting something out of this game.
Mid-week PSG were part of one of the most incredible games in Champions League history!
They suffered a 6-1 defeat to Barcelona in the 2nd leg of their Champions League clash, as the Spanish giants managed to overturn a 4-0 1st leg result, to knock PSG out of the competition.
PSG must put this behind them and focus on the league, as they are still in with a chance of lifting the French title for the 5th successive season!
The visitors are currently 2nd in Ligue 1, just 3 points behind league leaders Monaco. Nice are right on their tails however and are also on 62 points in 3rd.
Last weekend, PSG beat Nancy 1-0 and Edinson Cavani scored the only goal. Cavani has scored 37 goals in 36 appearances so far this season and he’ll be the danger man on Sunday.
Prior to the Barcelona game, PSG were unbeaten in 17 matches across all competitions, winning 15 of these games.
Away from home in the league, PSG have looked a strong side and they’ve won their last 5 games on their travels.
Unai Emery’s team have won 71% of their away matches in Ligue 1 this season and I expect that number to increase this weekend.
Asian Handicap Prices
PSG may have exited the Champions League mid-week, but they can’t afford to lose to Lorient on Sunday.
A 5th consecutive title is very much within their grasp and they’re taking on the bottom side in Ligue 1.
The French Champions should comfortably beat Lorient by 2 or more goals and therefore I recommend backing PSG -1.5 on the Asian Handicap betting market at 1.99.
Asian Handicap Recommendation: PSG -1.5 at 1.99
