Liverpool v Tottenham Asian Handicap Preview – Sunday 4th February

Liverpool v Tottenham – Anfield at 16:30

Liverpool welcome Tottenham to Anfield on Sunday with Jurgen Klopp’s men looking to push ahead of their opponents and fourth-place Chelsea in the race for Champions League qualification.

Liverpool’s record against their top four rivals

Since Jurgen Klopp entered the Premier League, Liverpool’s record against their top four rivals has been superb. The most recent example came against Manchester City in Liverpool’s 3-2 win.

Klopp’s men were superb and raised their game after the departure of Philippe Coutinho. The Reds pressed their opponents all over the pitch and were clinical in their finishing.

Jurgen Klopp will be hoping for much of the same against Spurs.

Both teams will be looking to build from wins in their last game

After a few disappointing results, including losses against Swansea and West Brom for Liverpool, both managers will be pleased that their sides recorded wins in their last games.

Liverpool was dominant against Huddersfield, recording a 3-0 win, whilst Spurs were quick out the blocks against Manchester United, securing a 2-0 win.

Only one team can get another three points here, but both managers will be pleased with their last result and will want to build on that.

A big test for the Liverpool back-line

Liverpool’s defence and goalkeeper have been questionable at best this season. Loris Karius has been given the number 1 role for the rest of the season by Jurgen Klopp and his manager will be hoping his countryman can repay his faith.

Klopp also invested £75 million in Virgin Van Dijk during the January transfer window and, while the Dutchman sat on the bench against Huddersfield, I expect he will be restored to the side against Spurs.

The prolific Harry Kane will provide the ultimate test for Liverpool’s defence and come to the final whistle on Sunday we could get a better idea of how Klopp’s side will fare in their quest for the top four.
