Liverpool v Manchester City Asian Handicap Preview – Sunday 14th January

Liverpool v Manchester City – Anfield at 16:00

Sunday’s clash between Liverpool and Manchester City has the potential to be the clash of the season. Two world-class managers come head-to-head in a match that could define both side’s seasons. Whilst Manchester City look set to be running away with the Premier League, a loss here would show that they are not invincible and could potentially derail their season.

Much of the news of late has been of Philippe Coutinho’s move from Liverpool to Barcelona. He becomes the second-highest transfer of all time, with only Neymar eclipsing the fee for the Brazilian.

This game against Manchester City gives Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool the chance to put the unrest regarding Coutinho’s departure firmly behind them and prove that their players are good enough to maintain their top four push.

Revenge for Klopp’s men

In September’s clash between the two sides, Jurgen Klopp’s men were embarrassed with a 5-0 loss. It was Sadio Mane’s red card that signalled the end of Liverpool’s challenge in the game, with Gabriel Jesus and Leroy Sane both getting braces after Mane’s red card for a high-tackle on City goalkeeper Ederson.

Jurgen Klopp will be hoping his side’s fortunes improve in this clash. The two managers have had plenty of excellent clashes throughout their career, including through their rivalry in German at Dortmund and Bayern Munich respectively.

Their style of football certainly contradict each other, so it will be interesting to see how they fare here. Klopp has previously described his style of football as “heavy metal” compared to the “classical” style of Pep Guardiola.

Time to give Manchester City the Premier League trophy?

Another win here would further strengthen Manchester City’s grip on the Premier League trophy. Is it too early to name the Premier League champions? Perhaps – it is only January after all – but Guardiola’s men look unstoppable at the moment and a win at Anfield would really show just how good they are.

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Liverpool 0.25 at 1.910
