Liverpool v Burnley – Anfield at 16:00 live on Sky Sports 1

My latest Asian Handicap preview for Eastbridge Sports Betting Brokerage focuses on the action from Anfield this Sunday afternoon.

Burnley travel to Merseyside to face Liverpool in the Premier League. The hosts come into the match as hot favourites and despite their inconsistencies this season, they are expected to pick up a comfortable win against the league’s worst away side.

Liverpool

2017 has been a difficult year so far for Jurgen Klopp. In his first full season in charge, the German lost just 2 of his opening 19 fixtures, D4 W13. Since the turn of the year however, the Reds have lost 3 times in 8 outings, winning just twice.

Their two league wins this year have come against top 4 chasers Tottenham and Arsenal though and they remain in contention for a Champions League place next season.

Liverpool are a conundrum and Klopp himself has described this season a rollercoaster. Against the top sides he has a good record winning 5 and drawing 2 of their 7 fixtures so far from teams in the top 5. However, all five of their losses have come against teams in the bottom half, including a 2-0 reversal at Turf Moor.

Burnley

The Clarets’ aim this season would have been to secure another season in the Premier League. Barring a disastrous last third of the campaign another year in the top flight is looking good.

Sean Dyche has to be applauded for his work as manager and the direct style he has created which makes it difficult for the top sides to play against.

Burnley’s 31 points and 12th place are fully justified, but all down to their home form. No team outside the top 8 has won more games (9), however all of those came at Turf Moor.

On the road, the Clarets have picked up 2 points from a possible 39, scoring just 8 times. They have lost all 4 of their visits to teams in the top 5 so far.

On a positive note, they have already beaten the Reds this season and have kept it very close with their opponents rivals, losing by a single goal against City, Spurs and Arsenal.

Asian Handicap & Total Goals

Liverpool come into the match as 1.27 favourites with the Asian Handicap line at -1.75. The Merseysiders have fully covered this 4 times this season but not since their 4-1 win over Stoke in December.

Burnley have only lost 3 times this term by 3 or more goals, the last being back in November. They also haven’t been beaten by 2 goals since the beginning of September.

Although the hosts have the capability to bang in 5 or 6 goals in their day, their inconsistencies, especially against bottom half sides doesn’t fill me with confidence.

In terms of goals, the stats show their is some value in backing Over 3 on the Asian line here.

Liverpool have only drawn one blank at Anfield this season and Burnley have scored in each of their last 5 away games. I expect the hosts to win this one but with 6 of their 9 wins at Anfield seeing both teams get in the score sheet, we should see at least 3 goals in this one.

Asian Handicap Recommendation: Burnley +0.75 First Half at 2.02 & Over 3 goals at 1.94
