Liverpool V Arsenal – Betting Preview

Anfield – Sunday 21st December at 16.00 live on Sky Sports 1

The final Sunday match before Christmas is the biggest game of the weekend as Arsenal take a trip to the North West to face Liverpool at Anfield.

Liverpool have been put through the ringer so far this season and currently sit down in 11th place in the Premier League. But after being dumped out of the Champions League by Basel a few weeks ago, they really need to start climbing the table if they want to qualify for next season’s premier club competition.

Brendan Rodgers has been struggling to fill the void left by Luis Suarez’s departure in the summer and Daniel Sturridge’s on-going injury problems, all season long. However, after taking a chance on playing Raheem Sterling in a more advanced, central striking role against Manchester United he might just have found the solution.

The quick and skilful winger has always had an eye for goal and with space for an additional creative player now available in midfield, Liverpool have looked very dangerous going forward once again. Unfortunately, they also have problems at the other end of the pitch with their defence never looking far from a catastrophe.

Meanwhile down in North London, Arsenal come into the game on the back of an impressive 4-1 win over Newcastle and sitting pretty with a plum draw in the last 16 of the Champions League.

On the flip side, the Gunners are still struggling to field a full strength team as their perennial battle with injuries shows no signs of ending any time soon. This could be a key point in the game because even with a full strength defence, the Gunners will have trouble dealing with Liverpool’s pace and creativity in attack.

With this in mind, I would expect to see a few goals in this match but there’s not much value in the Over 2.5 Goals market to capitalise on it. This season, Anfield hasn’t been the fortress it was last year but on Sunday the atmosphere should be electric and this, along with Sterling up front could prove to be the difference. Our recommendation is to back Liverpool 0 (Draw No Bet) at 2.05.
